Ignorance and an utter lack of charity.

Its amazing how texts written thousands of years ago still result in such conflicts in this day and age. Especially when a large portion of it isn't even relevant to modern society...

    These people are clearly insane.

Totally made-up charges of course, but under Pakistans blasphemy law, that is a sword hanging over the head of any non-muslim constantly. Any muslim neighbour can accuse a non-muslim of blasphemy, and the Sharian courts basically accepty accept that.

Note that all the Muslim Brotherhood candidates who have come to power in the much-touted "Arab Spring" are working to introduce similar blasphemy laws everywhere.

What is "modern society"? When a country adopts islamic law, your modernity goes out of the window. Just look at Pakistan.

Few people in Pakistan actually speak or read Arabic, so often assume that anything they see with Arabic script is believed to be from the Quran

And that's exactly why cases like this happen.

Yes, often. Do you have a source for sich efforts by the MB in Egypt?

@Nessie, they're already there sadly. Look up the countries that signed the petition to the UN for "blasphemy" laws. Egypt has had it in place for quite a long time. While they may not "officially" condone violence and subjugation of non-muslims, they hardly do anything when it does happen.

According to the Constitution of Egypt, the state religion is Islam. The foundation of legislation is Sharia. By the Constitution and the 1981 Education Act, "religious education" is compulsory in public and private schools. A "religious education" requires that all students be taught verses from the Quran.[1] At the age of sixteen, every Egyptian must obtain an Identity Card. The card states one's religion as Muslim, Christian, or J"other". The card is necessary for most services including banking, schooling, and medical treatment

All eyes are on Iran with their possible atomic weapons while Pakistan has these weapons. Now they want to kill a special needs 11 year old Christian girl. I think they want to kill all of the Christians, The USA treats these "people" as friends when they are the true foe.

@YuriOtani-correction, they don't focus on just christians sadly, its anyone that does not wish to subject themselves under Islam. Doesn't matter if you're Hindu,Buddist,Wiccan, Christian, Satanist, Voodoo, Pagan, Scientologist, Athiest, Agnostic, or even a sect of Islam that isn't Sunni or Shiite. If you're not muslim you will be treated as a lower class person.

    YuriOtani:

Hindus and Sikhs face the same persecution and harrassment under Pakistans "blasphemy" laws as Christians. Note that the "blasphemy" law can only be used by muslims. Non-muslims have no such option.

Note also, how the non-muslim population of Pakistan has shrunk a pityful fraction of what it was at the time of Pakistans creation.

You can expect this same development everywhere where you allow islamists to take power. The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt has already started similar procedures against the Copts.

You know that it's quite politically incorrect to say that Islam is a threat to non-Muslims, right? We supposedly have free speech but pointing out something like in many places in Europe would lead to riots.
