    Yeah right.

I'm sure the "offensive" went like this.

-A couple of soldiers walk up to some farmers: Soldier: Hey you guys seen Bin Laden? Farmers: No sir. Soldier: Okay then, you fellas have a good day.

The soldiers aren't searching for Bin Laden. They're fighting the Pakistani Taliban for control of Northwest Pakistan after peace agreements failed.

This show of force is to make Pakistan look good!

" "The soldiers aren't searching for Bin Laden. They're fighting the Pakistani Taliban" "

Yeah right. I am sure they are fighting the Pakistani Taliban very enthusiastically. And I have a bridge in Brookly for sale.

The Pakistani forces never found the Taliban. With reports like:

’’There has been no resistance, so far. No casualties, so far,’’

Or the Taliban is just waiting to kick some ass. They didn't run. If they control the area, they wouldn't be running so quickly. < :-)

Wait, no mention of the obligatory "with the backing of the U.S." or "U.S. military strikes?"

Obviously this "operation" is probably more along the likes of what easychord is alluding to.

WilliB, Pakistan has 2 fronts regarding the Taliban. One is assisting the US in capturing Bin Laden. Another if fighting the Taliban for control of parts of Pakistan. Sometimes those two goals are aligned, sometimes they are not. But the fact remains there is a difference.

    SuperLib,

Your saying so does not make it so. Musharraf was less then enthusiastic in taking on the islamic radicals, and the successor government will be even less so. And the Taliban, lest you forget, was and is assisted and financed from Pakistan.

    WilliB,

Your saying so does not make it so. We can trade that sentence at the beginning of every post or we can just remove it from the table. I'll follow your lead.

easychord2 linked the offensive with finding Osama Bin Laden. I chimed in and said that the offensive isn't liked with OBL, it's an internal war within Pakistan.

I'm not really sure what your point is.
