Another crime against humanity in the name of a sham "religion". Rest in Peace.

Oh look, an "honor" killing. Hope they find him... as for whether or not there will be justice for this murder is another story. I remember an elder Egyptian secularist stating that Islam is fighting itself to either remain in the middle ages, or to move into the modern era. Once again another situation like this proves it. The Imam had his position taken away by a theocratic government... Middle aged thinking.

Comming to a nation near you. The honor killing for no shame in western standards.

This is an example of exactly what the differences are between Judaeo/Christian based society and Islamic Sharia based society. While we may believe in the "right" to believe and live as one may wish to live, one must recognize the differences which can not only alter our lives but also threaten our way of life.

How would you handle those differences?

Exactly... the ONLY right as a living being, an animal, a human species is that right to "choose".

All other rights come from satisfying the "responsibilities" that comes with that choice, "accountability".

God or any other definable or undefinable entity may "give" us "rights", but the only power, the only right we have is to "choose" to accept or not to accept such rights, and to use or not to use those rights, and to give that right to others or not to give those rights to others. So ultimately we have the right to "choose".

If others have chosen to harm us, then we can choose to let it happen or to defend.

I as an animal, as a human species, as a father, I choose to defend and protect. I choose to procreate and have humanity survive. So I do not kill my parents, siblings or heirs and all those who make it possible our survival. In that process if I must make make a choice to kill my enemy... (That is my choice.)

You make yours.

In any case... even in Japanese, Chinese, Korean and other national histories, family members were killed for "honor" and many have even died (committed suicide) in the name of honor. Therefore, such action is not new nor foreign to humanity. It even happens in nature in the animal and plank kingdoms for its survival.

The question is whether we in what we call the modern society wish to continue to honor such action.

The basis is different on what we choose to believe as "human rights". America is the only nation that has "identified and defined human rights" through its Constitution based upon Judaeo/Christian values (believing it to be irrefutable universal values which credit was give to God). It just happens that it reflects what we so far know and observe nature and life as we know it.

I personally choose to have human rights (rights of good, healthy and meaningful relationship between people) so that we may all survive with the least suffering. We have enough harm coming from the rest of the universe and from natural disasters without creating our own.

the differences are between Judaeo/Christian based society and Islamic Sharia based society

in the former it's a domestic killing (two a day in the US); in the latter an honour killing

Women get killed none-the-less, but hey, don't we feel superior to the savages!
