No mercy on the Taliban, until they die or surrender just like the Tamil Tigers of Eelam who just gave up their fight.

Don't know about the comparison with the Tamil Tigers, but I agree with the sentiment of destroying the Taliban as a viable threat. I hope the US, its allies and most importantly the Pakistani military go after the Taliban with a vengeance. At the same time, I don't like this comment, “I cannot give a time but we will try (to complete the operation) at the earliest,” this sounds like the Pakistanis are being dictated to by PR considerations, not military ones. All I can suggest is that the maximum number of combatant troops is moved into the area and the Taliban are not given the opportunity to rest. Take these guys to the mat!!!

Agreed. Time to end their rule of terror and extremism. I have friends in Peshawar and they say the Taliban threat is very real and present there. They have no more love for these extremists than we do in the west. The Taliban are the enemies of the people and of Islam. They need to be stopped. And if that means eradication, the so be it. Let them fight to their last breath if that is what they wish.

    Never give up! Never surrender!

    "Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan"

I'll bet a lot of Muslims wish this guy would change his name or take his last breath already.

    sarge:

" I'll bet a lot of Muslims wish this guy would change his name or take his last breath already. "

And why do you bet that?

The vise tightens. If Pakistan is truley determined to take it to the Taliban, this may have significant effect on the war in Afghanistan.

    Sarge

Willi - "And why do you bet that?"

Because I think a lot of Muslims wish Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan would change his name or take his last breath already.

Given the fact that the media has the ability to essentially create or destroy public support for a war, I'd say that the PR battle is half the battle alone.

"And why do you think think that?"

Because even Sarge understands that not every muslim is a closet suicide bomber waiting for the day of "dhimmitude"?

    Super,

"Given the fact that the media has the ability to essentially create or destroy public support for a war, I'd say that the PR battle is half the battle alone."

Either that or go the Sri Lankan way and bar the press and tant pis for the un-lucky civillians.

What's the point of fighting till your last breath? Stubborn, or what?

Might be cheaper to offer them free tickets for a beach holiday in northern Sri Lanka.

    This is such a farce.

No matter how many jihadists the Pakistan armee kills or does not kill (one has to take these announcements with a spoon of salt), more are educated every day in madarassas across the contry, the continent, and in the world. And they are certainly not afraid to die, seeing that they go straight to paradise and the virgins.

As long as we conduct policy on these wrong promises, we keep losing.

It may seem like a farce but it's a good start as well. The Pakistani people have finally realized what the Taliban stand for - thanks to the Taliban over-reaching and saying they were going to overthrow the Pakistani government. It't a good thing that they woke up before the Taliban were in power. Now there is a possibility that, after the extremists are defeated militarily, the madarassas and mosques will start to moderate their preaching.

"until last breath"? I find those terms accpetable! See ya real soon!

Thats right, its impossible to win a war with Jihadists, so we shouldn't even try. We should all just convert to Islam, and submit to Sharia law right. That is after all what you're saying. That we should allow fear to govern our lives and actions. Let me tell you. If sufficient numbers of these nutcases die, and continue to die, then those trying to convert others kids into new nutcases, will start having a much more difficult time, and the parents of those kids, will start asking serious questions about what is being taught to their children. Its one thing to support a war when its far away, but when its your son being blown up, its something else entirely. And in this patriarchal dominated society, the fathers of these boys, don't want to lose their son and heir.

The Taliban stand for true, fundamentalist islam. And the Pakistani people don´t need you to tell them what that is.

Quote from above: “We will fight until the last breath for the enforcement of Islamic law,” Khan told The Associated Press in a brief phone call from an undisclosed location. “We consider ourselves on the right path.”

And therein lieth the problem. When strict Islamic Law was introduced in the Swat Valley, you didn't exactly like it, because some of the judges were genuinely independent and some of the cases went against your own views.

Maybe you consider yourselves on the right path, but most Muslims don't, SO DON'T COME ALONG AND ROCK THE BOAT FOR EVERYONE ELSE. Learn how to create genuine harmony on this troubled planet, and learn the real reason why you have been given these precious breaths, one at a time, by Allah/God. Maybe then you won't need to force yourselves onto people. Maybe people might even welcome you from their heart.

    nandakandamanda:

" Maybe you consider yourselves on the right path, but most Muslims don't, "

And how do you know that? The catch is that if you don´t strive for Shariah and the dar-al-salam, you are not much of a muslim. Like Tayyip Erdogan said: “There is no moderate Islam, Islam is Islam.”

And that is why all islamic countries are in this pickle, and so are most Western countries too, if demographic trends continue.
