I found it very strange that the article did not mention Abbas' party, Fatah. I do recognize it was an AP release and not something JT reported on.
proxy, I think it is possible that Israel knew about and condoned it. I only say this because of what you pointed out and also that there were "some trained in Jordan under U.S. guidance." The problem with that theory, and it just that, is that the "23-year-old Palestinian was seriously wounded by Israeli army fire." If he was Hamas it might support my theory.
