    He's lucid, his sentences parse, he eschews subtly racist remarks and his eyes lack the fanatical gleam of the lunatic fringe. He'll have a hard time appealing to the Republican base.

    These are sad, sad times to be a conservative in America.

    Almost everyone is bailing on them. Clearly too afraid that taking on Obama will mean the end of their careers, in fact, probably political suicide.

    But I thought Obama was a 'bad' president??

    Name is vaguely familiar, but I know zip about him, so I'll agree with you, lostfune2, on my behalf. I do expect many others are better informed than I am though.

    It's hard to imagine anyone who would be a bigger hypocrite than Newt or a bigger clown than Trump (who sadly threw his towel in, rather than his hat). Is this fellow on the Mitt Romeny, "actual contender" end of the scale?

    She is running on charisma fumes, but even the true believers are staring to realize that the White House is not in the cards. It appears she's establishing residence in Arizona and may declare candidacy for that state's vacant U.S. Senate seat next year. I'm not sure Arizonans will take the bait.

    Minnesota is home to a lot of flakes (no other way to explain Gov. Jesse Ventura) but Pawlenty has a chance.Withuot his teleprompter Obama has problems.

    And I'm sure the GOP plan of slashing Medicare, shuttering social programs and cutting funding for education, health and the environment is going to be a huge help to these folks....

    Luckily, voters can simply examine the candidate's record.Something they couldn't do with Obama, who brought no real mangerial experience to the Office of President, and mostly voted 'present' in his short stint as senator from now virtually bankrupt Illinois.

    But if you don't like Pawlenty hey don't vote for him.I don't think I will.

    Pawlenty doesn't stand a chance. He couldn't even win re-election to Minnesota governor without lying and cheating during his campaign againgst Mike Hatch.

    If he had to do that just to become governor of Minnesota, how is he supposed to become president?

    Just another in republican clown parade.

    Oh, yeah? Like what, T-Paw? Do you support ending Medicare and replacing it with a voucher program? (That's no solution.)

    I'm betting that the Minnesota Milquetoast has no solutions, and that Iowa will be for him what it is for most Republican candidates: a roach motel where they check in sane and come out crazy -- if they come out at all.

    I wouldn't brag about taking Minnesota from being number 1 in the nation in education and leaving it at number 13. I wouldn't brag about taking the state that ranked number 1 in the Morgan Quinto state rankings and leaving it ranked number 7.

    Granted, Tim-meh had only one direction to go, and it was down. But he did it so well. His legacy will always be the 35W bridge collapse. Minnesota was known for its infrastructure too. Not any more.

    So yeah Tim-meh, you made Minnesota more conservative all right, as in worse.

    Yep, after Tim-meh, Minnesota elected Sen. Amy Klobachar (D) and Sen. Al Franken (D) (liberal).

    So, he can't even make that boast after all. Poor Tim-meh.

    Pawlenty was shown praising Paul Ryan for having the courage to put forward a plan to eliminate Medicare for all Americans under the age of 55, while gutlessly moon-walking and back-pedaling away from it. I guess he agrees with Newt Gingrich that it's radical right-wing social engineering.

    Among the Republicans who have taken formal steps toward a White House campaign are former Massachusetts Gov Mitt Romney,

    Romney's such a clown that he expects people to be too dumb to recall that he thought that Detroit should go bankrupt and was opposed to government loans -- but now, since the loans were successful and GM and Chrysler are making profits again, Mitt is actually trying to take credit. His spokesperson actually claimed that the bailout was Mitt's idea.

    I guess if a person is dumb enough to believe that, they're ideally positioned to vote for Mitt.
