A good find Sarge. LOL!
Not only the implication that CIA truth is actually lies, but also the implication that it does matter what the CIA says, Congress is supposed to divine the truth anyway. Too bad its not an exact quote.
Or torturers. I think its outrageous to call all CIA employees "terror-fighters", even those directly invovled with terror are bound to have some bad apples and people don't really give a crap about terror. So give us a break.

"our terror-fighters"
Hey, if Clinton's boy ( CIA director Panetta ) says they're terror-fighters, by golly they're terror-fighters!

Who really cares?
I don't really understand the whole hangup with waterboarding. Despite it being little more than torture, it was something that was effectively signed off on during the previous administration. Going back to this event years later and wringing one's hands is not going to change anything. Indeed, this whole debate with Pelosi smells of a politician trying to distance themselves from an issue after the event. Aren't there more important things to be worrying about? Furthermore, if anything the CIA and its career officers are one of the few areas of the federal government that did not bend over for the previous administration. Indeed, George Tennet was shown the door for not pleasuring Cheney and Rumsfeld with his mouth. To drag the name of this organization through the dirt now seems stinks of Pelosi pandering to the leftwing of her support base.
BTW - Don't understand the hang-up with waterboarding which has been a "enhanced interrogation" technique used by a wide range of organizations for a very long time. Furthermore, I can think of a couple of interrogation techniques that in terms of pain make waterboarding look like a manicure service. I wonder if the CIA has also used these other techinques.

Nancy played it too close to the hip during the Bush era. She made deals that are now coming back to bite her. You lay with Cheney and you will get VD....err no I meant to say, you lay with Cheney and you get shot in the face.....no no opps did it again.....I meant.....ah screw it......she was in bed with too many sides and tried to play the middle and now she is toast. So she needs to go and let our President run the show.....
OoooOOOoooo President Obama must be taking out the old guard one by one and replacing them with his people......
OOOOOoooOOOOoo Teleprompter this is up your alley, a new President Obama conspiracy you can try to sink your imagination into!LOL

Pelosi used waterboarding as a tool to hammer her political opponents for years. It is sweet serendipity to see her being 'tortured' with the same hammer. All of the facts point to Pelosi as being a blatant liear and political opportunist. When you have a Democrat party hack like Leon Panetta calling out Pelosi, it's time to fess up. Democrats have used national security issues for political gain since the day the war's popularity dropped below 50%. This is part and parcel with Sen. Reid's stating that the war in Iraq is lost and then Senator Clinton's questioning of Gen. Petreus's truthfulness and integrity. National security and war are just political opportunities for Democrats to gain powere - that's all.
Pelosi is speaker of the House of Representatives and an abject liar. She should resign for the good of the country. Bring on the truth commissions - can't wait to see the evidence on Bill Clinton's rendition of foreign nationals so they could be tortured. Also, can't wait to see all of the evidence of other Democrats that knew of the enhanced interrogation tactics and did nothing to stop them - yet denounced them later when it was politically expedient to do so.

As for the political ruckus itself over the use of waterboarding as an enhanced interrogation technique. Isn't it funny that Democrats' don't mind that their own government uses this technique to train our own military and intelligence personnel - and have been for years - but when it is used on a terrorist it's called torture. This fits right in with Pelosi's rather large wing of the Democrat party that cares more about the rights of terrorists than other American's trying to protect the nation. Go ahead and torture those terrible Americans who sign up to protect the country (they are probably conservatives anyway) but don't you dare lay a hand on that Islamic jihadist or I will ruin your life!

JoeBigs: Great post!
A breath of fresh air.

You will have to cite references saying that waterboarding is still being used. My sources say that the technique was given up -- at least in the training of SEALS -- years ago.
Is this the same military that used waterboarding that folks claimed were mainly Republicans?
It is as simple as this: A nation is no more and no less than the values and principles it stands for and upholds. Once you adopt the terrorists methods you prove that you're not any better than they are -- and the nation you claim to be trying to protect has been sent down the tubes. You have destroyed the nation through your own actions.

When the American government begins beheading it's enemies on television to achieve it's political goals, I think I might get your point. Until then I will continue to believe that such an opinion is not in tune with reality.

The reason you can't get the point is because you can't see that people who think like you do not differ in kind with the terrorists, but only in degree.
That is the reality.
