Regret because he got caught??? Why is it when people do these things so passionately and then once they get caught, always give speeches of sorrow and regret. As much as I like and admire Petraeus, if he truly regretted what he had done, then he shouldn't have gotten involved with this woman to begin with IMHO.

regretting? very unfair to his wife, his girl friend and his job as four-star military general.

Has Broadwell nothing to say in all of this?

bass4funk is right.

Completely agree with bass4funk as well. Success is a combination of talent and hard work; there are many who are deficit in one or the other yet are dazzled by the attention and promise success brings, and they will attach themselves like a sucker fish onto those who they think will raise them to higher levels.

I am rather disgusted by Kelley' attempts at "supporting the troops": throwing soirees for top brass and not soldiers is a transparent attempt at social aggrandization and nothing more. These types exist across the political spectrum; the faster they are identified and marginalized, the less damage they can do.

Bah, in all honesty I've never been able to control brain number 2 (dammit), I equate it to the addicts irresistible urge for a big fat hit.

We expect people of power to be above all that, but it really only shows they're human. And perhaps that the concept of marriage - a lifetime comittment to one person - is fatally flawed in our time?

This only goes to illustrate the old saying that he who controls armies is not nearly as powerful as he who controls himself.

It goes farther than just being in power. Vows, oaths and codes of honor come into play.

I'm sure it has something to do with damage control for his image, so he can get some future business or employment opportunities. Your opinion is more than a bit idealistic.
