If the bodies are not picked up or at least cremated there will be many people getting real sick ASAP from the diseases that come out of rotting bodies, and I have not checked the weather for Mindanao, but my guess is that is must be around 30 degrees centigrade or about 80 F?? Real good weather to make those bodies decompose ASAP like they did over in Haiti last year and then you get many, many epidemics. I do hope and pray these people all get help ASAP!!

Why the lack of interest in this story? The scale of this disaster in the Philippines isn't less tragic than 3/11. Don't forget that the Philipinos went to great lengths to raise money for Japan.

Elbuda: for one thing, the Philippines has very few cremation centers, and the service fees are quite expensive. But you're right, it's quite hot down there in the Philippines, even at this time of year.

Usually, the Philippine government will try to look for relatives, but after some time, will put the corpses in a communal grave (cough a grave where hundreds of corpses are buried together). Many people won't even know their relatives died.

May their souls get the rest they deserve, and the families left behind get government support.

This is a Silent MAJOR Tragedy....and the news gets worse each day I read about it. This should be Headline News in all Media at this time, but I guess those decision makers are on Holiday break.

This is just awful news, as someone with Filipina friends and acquantances, I am deeply saddened. I hope there will be some volunteers collecting donations in my city soon. Best wishes to all Filpinos!
