this is a new World Record (WR) and Olympic Record (OL). 3 ships in a day.

Sail an inocent-looking cargo ship packed with special branch forces through these waters. Then let them have it. After hijacking a few of these ships I think the message would get through.

Good idea Sid. Let em have it. one let to live to deliver the message. and deliver home some heads.

All cargo ships passing through that area should have heavily armed security forces on board and make it a policy to fire on any and all craft approaching without authorization. Why wait until they board you? Blast the scum in the water and on their own boat, it'll save having to hose the blood off your decks!

Lets the garbage wash up on the Somali coastline where it belongs!

During WWI did the British not arm ships & fake their appearance so they could take down German destroyers or such. Were they not called Q-ships? You can see I go along with Sid's post above.

Smythe, those ships were used as decoys for German raiders and U-boats. I agree with the postings about putting armed special forces on ships to protect them. But alas, if the US sent a Seal Squad, or the UK sent a squad of SAS or Israel sent commandos, then you would get the same arguments that we have now in regards to the US/Allied coalition in the War of Terror. We are targeting Muslims, and denying the pirates their "due process" rights in accordance with International Law.

And, if the US forces were to board a ship that was Japanese flagged, would that mean that Japan is playing an active role in the war on terror (let's face it, I bet that all of the pirates off Somlia are Muslim). Japan can't even send an oil tanker into the Indian Ocean/Arabian Sea to support USN operations in the region, I doubt very seriously if they would send JMSDF personnel to maintain a security watch on the Japanese flagged ships only. Since many here would cry that is a violation of Article 9.

So for right now, all the world can do is be reactionary, that is wait until a ship gets taken, and then try to follow (as the USN and FN and RN have been doing) to face the pirates, or just sit back and let some group of pirates hold ships and crews hostage while they extort money from owners.

Good news for people dealing in Oil and Commodities, prices are going up!

You don't have to make is sound like that.. there a many other ways without this crap going on for prices to go up and make money from them.

Alphaape, I couldn't agree more. I would say let each country, if possible, have their Navy patrol the area to a certain point. Sending in forces would be the best and quickest way to get the problem solved but like you said, there would be an international out pour of people here protesting the actions.

[an international out pour of people here protesting the actions.] Skip I doubt any others in this world give a pinch of shiite what the left leaning flower children of Japan Today think. That's why they are in Japan. Ignoring the world and being ignored.

I can't believe in this day and time that we have pirates, Capt. Kidds of today, attacking and taking ships day after day. And getting away with it.

I mean how do they sell their cargos? Do they sink the ships after they are salvaged or sell them off?

I mean this is just wild. < :-)
