Polanski certainly deserves prison for what he did, the details of his crime are disgusting. But the timing of his arrest are suspicious. Its only when he decides to make a movie of a western leader who many view as a war criminal (Blair) that the US go after him, maybe to try to influence the final version.
In prison, facing the prospect of a long jail term, he might tone down the movie, that is unfortunate

I am tempted to go kidnap this piece of filth myself and dump his drug assisted raping tush on the LAPD steps with a hard "thud".
I could understand how the people involved in this film had never heard of what he did before getting involved, but they must know by now. If I did not boycott the party, I would not be feting this creep. I would give a speech about how the unapologetic walking pile of crud should be begging for extradition to atone for his crime, and suggest no one watch the film until he does.
As a matter of fact, I suggest you boycott the film until he stops fighting the process of him paying for what he did.

Except, that is not what his movie is about. Sorry. Wrong again. His arrest has nothing to do with movies.

Just imagine he raped and drugged your 13 year old daughter when you think about the case. There is no question he should face the music. If i were her dad I wouldn't care if 30 years had past. It is never too late for revenge.

If this nonce lived in my manor, he would need a massive 24 hour police guard for protection. The thing this geezer done deserve a long sentence, even if it was decades ago.

Given the fact that his victim has pardoned him, the US action in this instance is an ass. Good for the Swiss, make Amerika play by its own rules!

Justice is not always for the victim. For example if a person has been murdered, they no longer care what happened to them, they're dead. But the family left behind, and society in general does care. And should care. This isn't exactly the place to debate legal theory, so I'll just state, that unlike in Japan, where there must be a complaint for there to be a prosecution, the US has a different theory. That is, if you commit the crime, no complaint is needed. Justice is not necessarily only for the victim, its also for society.
