4.6 mil for him doesn't sound like a lot of money. He'll probably wait and see what kind of prosecution he'll face and if it's not a slap on the wrist he'll probably escape back home.

Oh, the poor old rapist. We should all cry a tear for him, suffering the indignity of being house-arrested in his luxury chalet.

*Polanski will have views of snowcapped Alpine peaks, spacious rooms and the all the amenities of a town with a reputation for catering to the wishes of the rich and famous.

But he won’t be able to go out the front door.*

Are we supposed to find sympathy from this statement? The way they describe this place, who WOULD want to go out the front door? This entire situation is disgusting. He gets to stay in a resort basically after drugging and raping a 13 year old girl, and then RUNNING AWAY-- just because he made some good films. That's basically what this is, right? We can't ever really complain about the guys sitting in regular old jail getting their free meals and a place to sleep.

I expect he'll dig a pit under the house and set up a pattern of broken signals before hightailing it to Italy.

They could have kept him in his cell and given him a wall-poster with a splendid mountain view.

“You can get almost everything here, provided you’ve got the money,”

    Including 13 years old girls?

Kokorocloud, I think it's because he was involved in the holocaust as a kid, not because of his crappy films. But yes, it seems some people want to let him get away with paedophilia and child rape. Amazing really, and there are even some people on this board who seem to agree with it. Don't see posts from them here yet though.

I also won't be surprised if he escapes. It's asking for trouble letting him live there, he'll probably swap places with one of the delivery people. It's traditional. Even toad of toad hall did it.

of course what he did was despicable, but the woman who was raped has asked repeatedly to have the case dropped. with all of this attention she keeps reliving the past. no one seems to actually care about her though.

I would not say no one. I feel very sorry for her for all of it. But try to remember that its completely Polanski's fault this has gone on so long. I would be happy if they just completely threw the book at him for fleeing like that. It would not even involve her.

And I hope this scumbag does not commit suicide on his own terms at home. This guy deserves nothing but pain.
