“No longer Mayor Quan’s legal advisor. Resigned at 2 am. Support Occupy Oakland, not the one percent and its government facilitators,”

Before I say anything else, hats off to Dan Siegel! And thank God for a man who refuses to be a cog in the machine of oppression!

The demonstrations against corporate greed and Washington gridlock

Greed? Yes! Gridlock? Huh? Is this the press making stuff up again like when they called the protests "anti-capitalist"?

early morning operations was prompted by a recent murder that happened adjacent to the camp.

Adjacent?? Did they shut everything else down adjacent to the murder??

I suppose I should be thankful. They could have just waited for winter to tear at the resolve of the protestors. Instead, they are going in with force, and I hope it will temper their resolve instead.

But by 2 a.m. most of the hundreds of protesters who had been gathering in the park had heeded the calls to leave, with around a dozen holdouts surrounded by police, according to an AFP correspondent.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s office urged the protesters to “temporarily” leave the area, saying they could return later.

“Occupants of Zuccotti should temporarily leave and remove tents and tarps. Protestors can return after the park is cleared,” the office said on the micro-blogging website Twitter.

    I smell a conspiracy............

Temporary removal? Ought to be permanent.

Strange sound bite shown on the news (probably MBS--the all wood set with the funky loft/ treehouse where they do interviews) about an hour ago. A brash New Yorker dropping an F-bomb talking about her friends' camp being razed, followed by a shot of the Japanese newscaster arching his eyebrows and exclaiming, "Next, the weather!"

America is on the verge of being won back... or lost forever... depending on which way this all goes. But violence will only lead to more government tyranny. Only peace can bring them out of this police state nightmare and move them toward the non-violent revolution that will be necessary to restore liberty and justice in America.

    NYC don't swing like that.

I hear opponents of the demonstrators outnumber their supporters now.

That's a bit hyperbolic. It's a handful of dudes in a park who are being asked to leave so the park can be cleaned. Let's not make this into some sort of apocalyptic showdown. And, honestly, OWS has probably now squeeze out all the benefit that one could expect to get out of such a protest.. They are probably better off packing up now rather than risking further deterioration of the movement.

Judging by all the stuff I saw piled up, all the tents, sleeping bags, cooking gear and yes, even their computers, it was more than a handful.

They are probably better off packing up now rather than risking further deterioration of the movement.

You think that packing up in the face of authority, under police orders, is going to be good for the movement?
