I saw a documentary on this town only a few nights ago. The cartel that control this town controls the flow of drugs into the U.S. (which is the source of their money) and the flow of weapons out of the U.S. (where weapons are much easier to obtain). The Mexican government has no real option other than continuing the fight. Too many people have already died, but the cartels don't care. Commiserations to the families of those who have lost loved ones, and I hope for the safety and the willingness to see this through to the leaders of the country.

It's sad; Nuevo Leon and Chihuahua states are in near-total social breakdown right now. Then there is the ongoing war in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. The real question is, can Matamoros escape the bulk of the violence? Because with CJ and NL both on the wane, that port of entry has been picking up a lot of business.

Words like perverted, sicko, and castration get thrown around a lot. I reserve such terms for the monsters who commit crimes such as this. Mexico needs to declare martial law and accept U.S. military help to contain this situation and break the stranglehold these sick groups have on Mexico.

That is the short term solution however. In the long term, America needs to legalize soft drugs and start ensuring that guns are better tracked. I suggest mildly radioactive serial numbers embedded in the barrels and strict licensing, sales certificates and purchase limits.

18,000 dead over the past four years is probably worse than Afghanistan. These people are even more ruthless than the Russian Mafiya, and I suppose it's just a matter of time before American cops start suffering similar fates. Maybe then it will start taking serious measures.

Mexico is almost at critical mass and it is time that the US was brought in to help as Heylars says. It is in the interests of the US to be involved because it is only a matter of time before they see this happening north of the border. The difficulty will be convincing both the Mexican government they need help and the American people that this is a situation important enough to warrant the loss of American police and soldiers, because there would be losses. But something has got to be done to bring this insanity to an end before the country fragments and we have warlords ruling their own little areas. I’m not sure how the legalisation of drugs is going to work, how can soft drug legalisation be separated from hard drugs? The dealers are very often the same people and the serious money has always been with the serious drug so partial legalisation isn’t going to cut off the big money incentive to keep dealing, and killing. As for controlling gun sales in the US, that’s a none starter, once that is tried the US gun lobby wakes up and nothing gets done, they are only interested in protecting their own and care nothing about what is happening in Mexico.

beelzubub; "it's just a matter of time before American cops start suffering similar fates."

I seriously doubt that. That is the last thing any of these mexican drug cartels want- a full scale war involving 100% backing of US forces. They are content with keeping this isolated to the border towns on their side of the continent. personally I could care less if these gangsters want to shoot each other up. neither me nor any of my family members will be traveling that direction and tis is an internal problem for the mexican government- no need to get the US involved.

As sad as this is, its a perfect example of what happens when a country is practically over-run with corruption in government. When bribing law enforcement becomes a common expectation this is what it can lead to very easily in many many countries.

The stories coming from Mexico are what we'd expect. They are lawless, and corrupt. The liberal mindset in this country will force the American male to act. Many law enforcement agencies have their hands tied behind their backs, or the equivalent of Special Order 40 (L.A.), and/or a liberal seditious pandering police chief (ex-Chief Bratton of Los Angeles). In the near future, these types of headlines will be common American cities. It is time to stop illegal immigration from Mexico. Period. They do not belong here, and they do not have the right to demand a pathway to citizenship. They will necer be loyal to the U.S.

Americans of all races are expressing their disapproval for this tsunami of illegal aliens pouring across our borders, and the upcoming Amnesty pushed by the racist Illinois Congressman and Mexican loyalist, Luis Gutierrez. After all, Democrats have to pay the Hispanic community back for allowing illegal immigrants to vote in our elections (an offense that would get you a prison sentence in Mexico).

Why is it that the children of illegal aliens are granted the same rights and privileges as the descendants of slaves for whom the Fourteenth Amendment was written into the Constitution? Why should Black American children have to compete with millions of illegal alien children for seats in schools, quality attention from educators, diminishing social services and ever-distant opportunities? Why is the proud refrain, "We Shall Overcome," now muffled by the clamor of "We Will Overwhelm and Take Your Country?" If you seek answers, just look to the racist groups like The National Council of La Raza (The Race), MeCHA, LULAC, and a terrorist group called the "Mexica Movement." Their official platform says:

"We totally reject all illegal European Colonial Squatter Occupation Borders on our continent. We also reject Colonialism's right to keep stealing the wealth of our lands. And we reject their artificial divisions of our people!" This is a group that thinks America is their property, and anyone who doesn't fit their description should leave the country. What it also means is this is a hateful, racist and terrorist group, and it should be dealt with. Of course, we will be called racist. What Americans are fed up with are the millions and millions of people who come here and do not want to assimilate or learn the language. People who send their earnings "home" to another country. People who are turning 2 bedroom apartments and single family homes into illegal camps housing up to 100. People who are stealing I.Ds and Social Security numbers from American taxpayers. People who are turning entire neighborhoods and city sections into Tijuanas, where half the store signs advertise "llanteras usadas." People who are killing American citizens at the rate of 27 per day through murder, drunk driving, etc. People who expect and demand their kids to be taught in Spanish, and don't care what we Americans think. People who since 2000 have desecrated our National border parks with 35 million tons of trash.

People who drive illegally without licenses, auto insurance or set enough aside to cover their liabilities. People who use our expensive hospital emergency rooms as their cold and sniffle clinics. The real complaint here is that those "lazy Americans" who still try to "follow the rules" find themselves increasingly squeezed and taxed, fingerprinted and regulated and licensed and strip-searched, while the illegals thumb their noses, disregard our wishes, and give the finger to our laws.

Why would they want reform of a laws they've shown no intention of obeying? What they really want is "belly up immigration surrender" - free instant citizenship rights to all government welfare benefits for any of their people who can get here. Why is it dangerous that we can't discuss these things frankly in the open, without crippling euphemisms that disguise what this is really about?

We've all seen the news coverage with millions of illegal aliens waving Mexican flags in our streets demanding to be awarded citizenship.

We've heard the threats from the their seditious leaders elected to our offices. We've seen the American flag burned, or hung upside down beneath the Mexican flag. They insist we'd be nothing without them.

They call it Reconquista. The sleeping giant is starting to rise from its decades old slumber.

They are artificially encouraged by tens of millions of their illegal illegitimate brethren that victory is within reach. The coming conflict with these parasites in parasiteâs clothing will end with the American citizens authorizing a mass banishment that will make President Eisenhower's "Operation Wetback" puny in comparison.

The illegal alien network will counter with excuses for mass deportation. The figures will always remain at 12 million, although the numbers are closer to 40 million. There will a national movement. To be an illegal alien in the United States will become difficult. People will self-deport. The national bleeding will then stop. I will no longer have to press 1 for my own language.

Mexicans are not our friends, and never will be. This parasite is sucking our country and it's resourses dry. We may never recover, especially when there is only one top law enforcement officer who is actually doing the job Americans elected him to do. And that American is Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona.
