Seems like the law authories don't want to enforce the law and complain that they will be overworked??? Whose payroll are they on??? Are they saying that they can't do their regular job as well as ask people to show their proof of legal alien residence when they stop someone for some type of legal violation. Come on enough with this BS, go and do your job and shut up. There is so much bureaucracy in the US and the government workers can not seem to do anything because they are all union workers (sounds like communism to me) and then right wing talk show hosts say we are heading down the road to socialism or communism. Well folks, who do you think started all those unions in the first place??? Modern day unions protect people that are useless and can not do a good day's work and suck the money out of taxpayers who don't get their money's worth of service from all those clowns who work in government institutions. If the law enforceement authorities were true americans (legal US citizens) they would quit complaining and go do they darn jobs and let the results not speculation prove what the results will be down the road. They want easy street and cushy pensions when they retire. I know several law enforcement officers that are retired at 55, get 75% of their last payroll, take on a new job and laugh about how much money (six figures a year) they are pulling down. Why should we have to put up with illegals phony laws and politicians and have to put up with these BS unions as well. I say, "show me your id" or leave the USA and don't use our weak laws and crooked politicians to drain the money out of the USA so we become the same third world country as Mexico or some other Latin American country.

Ultimately Mexicans won't want to enter the US any more, because at the rate America's standard of living is dropping, the two countries will be on parity in another 10 or 15 years.

I would bet that in Arizona, most of the "illegal immigrants are destroying my country!!!" crowd vote Republican. And most of the business owners who employ illegals vote Republican. The law looks like a way to throw a bone to the first group without causing too many hassles for the second.

People here on visas or green cards are already required by Federal Law to keep that ID on them at all times. So what's the big deal about an Arizona cop asking them for it if they have them pulled over for a traffic violation or something? Of course asking for an ID just because someone looks different from you should not be tolarated.

Enforcing the law would increase crime.... hmm. The reverse conclusion is that not enforcing the law decreases crime -- brilliant! Why didn´t we think of that before.

I love how people on here moan about ID cards in Japan, yet fully support immigrants having to carry around ID in Arizona.

Think about the time and resources required to process each and every minority individual you suspect of being in the US illegally. Yes, crime would most likely rise. Cops would be too busy being INS agents instead of police officers. Have a little more respect for the many (not all) honest and brave individuals who put their lives on the line to serve us.

You would be losing a lot of money here. While the Republicans are the largest party in the state, they don't even make up half of the population. With 70% of Arizonans in favor of the law, thats a heck of a lot more then vote Republican. Thats Hispanics, and Democrats as well, and not just a few, thats a lot of Dems and Hispanics that favor this law.

By the way, Obamacare is not supposed to be available to illegal immigrants wither, which means every user of Obamacare will have to be checked.
Does this mean that, following this logic, Obamacare will now be available for everybody, including illegal visitors, because it would be too expensive to ask them for ID?

So even a basic attempt to enforce immigration laws is discrimination? Take the laws off the books then. No one required to show any ID, open borders, all comers welcome. Yeehaw.

If that happens, “we will be unable to do our jobs,” said Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck. “Laws like this will actually increase crime, not decrease crime.”
Complete nonsense. Do your jobs, enforce the laws. Leave the counselling to others.

Crack down on the companies who employ illegals.

If I were American, I'd be moved to caution my compatriots against falling prey to demagogues who would like to distract them from the country's more serious problems by inciting a pogrom against hapless Mexican workers, without whose labour the US economy is likely to collapse.

I think this is the biggest pile of BS I've heard in some time.

So much the better. Makes lots of people happy.
But until there is a serious crackdown on companies who employ illegals, with fines and criminal charges that are much bigger than whatever they are now (if any), this is all just a political show for those 70%.

The US economy will not collape without illegal immigrant labor.

Put it like this: Life would become immeasurably more difficult for operators of abbatoirs, tobacco, vegetable and fruit growers and the food and beverage industry, among others.

Is Beelzebub saying that certain demagogues employed by the financial elite owned American corporate media are intentionally involved in a disinformation campaign designed to divert attention from more substantial issues (ie. the elite's control of government and systemic destruction of the American economy and way of life), therefore subverting democracy through divide and conquer tactics and allowing them to strengthen their grip on power even more?
No way man! They would never fall for that. Never never never!!!

Life would become more difficult for certain producers of certain products, certainly, but not impossible. These products can still be produced without illegal immigration and would be if producers follow the laws and pay at least minimum wage instead of hiring illegal immigrants and paying them next to nothing. While I sympathize with the living conditions in Mexico and South America, the flood of illegal immigrants must be stopped. And, yes, I think corporations/business that employ illegal immigrants should get to do the perp walk on TV before spending ample time behind bars.
