Because offshore accounts can obscure the identity of the owner, they are often used illegally to hide money from the taxman or launder ill-gotten gains.

The little guy can't hide his money. We're talking the 1% here. Never forget that.

Just like we should never forget that as far as most the 1%-ers, there is no such thing as "ill-gotten gains." To them, all their money in theirs, and paying taxes is for suckers.

What was Xi's response to the accusation about his family's involvement? "Silence the internet." Problem solved.

Critics argue that while that’s not illegal, companies and people should not be allowed to do so, but instead pay taxes where they earn their money.

Meanwhile if you suggest that US companies shouldn't be expected to pay tax on profits made overseas (repatriation tax) the left acts indignant and starts ranting about the 1% and dumb conservatives voting against their self-interest. Never mind Americans being expected to pay taxes when working abroad.

All the mysterious millions planted by the CIA in the cellists account were spent on musical instruments and donated to charities anyway.

There's probably a Blackwater angle for you too, I'm trying to help here, your propaganda pieces seem really trapped in a downward spiral these days...

I think a massive one no one is really talking about is Lionel Messi. He's already being charged with tax fraud in Spain, and now it's been revealed he's a beneficiary of an offshore account. This could potentially be the end of him
