Just wondering if Jesus is progressive with liberal socialistic agenda as Pope Francis? Christians are under attack worldwide, especially in the hands of radical Muslims such as in Kenya and Libya. Maybe Iran will help the Pope to stop the killing! Well, keep on praying since most believers think that God is on their side, and He/She invented their religions!

Speaking from the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica, Francis also said the framework nuclear accord reached Thursday between Iran and six major world powers inspired hope for “a definitive step toward a more secure and fraternal world”.

Wow -- how are the Republicans and their talking heads going to deal with that? I mean a significant part of their base, especially on the issue of abortion, is Catholics. So now the leader of those Catholics is telling them they are dead wrong on the Iran deal. Guess Boehner better become even better friends with Netanyahu, because he is taking a stand against the head of his own religion (Yes, he is Catholic), simply for political gains. And The Pope is calling him out on it.

'Just wondering if Jesus is progressive with liberal socialistic agenda as Pope Francis?'

Jesus did preach peace, broke laws, railed against the rich and said to give all you have to the poor. Something most Christians have conveniently forgotten or perhaps haven't even read.

@Jimizo

Yes!! Only problem is, most people who know the true nature of Christ's preaching are aetheists. Too many "Christians" are conservatives and bigots....

@Luca It's jaw-dropping hypocrisy. The Christian right love to go on about gay marriage ( Jesus didn't mention homosexuality ) but ignore his constant promotion of peace and dire warnings against acquiring money. I remember one comedian said these Christians are like people who join Greenpeace but hate whales.

(Boehner) is taking a stand against the head of his own religion....

Perhaps his view of Pope Francis is similar to that of wingnuts who rail against "your president" when referring to Obama.

Presumable the Republican party are going to renounce Catholicism and Christianity and become Jews. They already answer to the Israeli prime minister over their own president as we've seen.

Christians should be thankful for Francis he does seem like a genuine bloke.

@Madverts

Catholics should be thankful, not "Christians".

Some of us are more fans of Canterbury than Rome....

Agreed, though, Francis seems a great bloke.

'Some of us are more fans of Canterbury than Rome....'

Luca, you surprise me. A fellow lefty showing affection for an institution which has been described as the Tory Party at prayer and the religious arm of the monarchy. Then again, to be fair, I did have a bit of time for old Robert Runcie who memorably peed on Thatcher's bonfire after she was celebrating routing the Argies and this current head has been attacking the Tories for growing poverty. I'd probably take Canterbury over Rome too, but I don't think either would have impressed the great lefty from Nazareth.

Luca,

I get my Discworld novels mixed up too.

Apologies for any confusion.

Agreed, the C of E is hardly the bastion of humanity and compassion it should be. But there's always hope....

@Madverts

You are Mr Beelzebub and I claim my five pounds!

King BiBi, the GOP-Tea and Speaker John Boehner didn't get the memo.

The GOP-Tea response must be that the Pope doesn't know what he's talking about.

The GOP-Tea has committed their efforts to bringing religious war to the Middle East. Promoted the march to Jerusalem to their captives at Liberty University through Messiah de la Cruz. Why is the Pope making so much trouble for the GOP-Tea. Didn't Pope Francis get the memo from the GOP-Tea? Their solution is war, always and forever.

That Pope, always gumming up the works urging Peace.
