A key question that has long blighted relations between the two faiths was addressed in December when senior Catholic theologians said Jews can secure eternal salvation without converting to Christianity.

On Sunday Francis also welcomed 5,000 migrant worshippers at a special mass at St Peter’s to mark the world day of migrants and refugees, urging them to treasure their “culture and precious values”.

No fair. Why isn't he encouraging the politicians who are hosting the migrants and refugees to accept more. When the pope visited the US, his message was more political than religious as he preached compassion for illegal immigrants in the US and compassion and acceptance for more.

Let us all hope that Francis lives long enough to appoint enough of his guys to the Council of Cardinal Advisors.

Then the Church will be on sure footing.
