    The essence if this issue is the imposition of celibacy in violation of nature. The Pope, the Church has no right whatsoever to require such a vow from a candidate for ordination. It is a devilish tyranny to make such a demand. A priest should be permitted to have a wife, or a husband if the priest is a woman. More scandal, pain and suffering has come from this law of celibacy than any other. No good has ever come, nor will come, from the Papacy and its laws. (Dr. Martin Luther, 1521)

    LIBERTAS I am constantly that so many readers believe, as you do, that celibacy and pedophilia are linked. They are not. They are two separate issues. I agree that celibacy is unnatural and that the church would be better off if priests could marry. But that is another issue. Pedophilia is not caused by celibacy.

    Sorry smartacus, but the amount of pedophilia cases committed by these celibates, has gone way past anecdotal evidence.

    Maybe pedophilia specifically is not caused by celibacy but priests want to have sex with someone/anyone so they choose the people who are most vulnerable/easily available, namely young boys. So pedophilia by priests is indirectly caused by celibacy.

    Imagine after abusing children on the scale that they have, yet they still expect to be taken seriously. Imagine the crimes they committed against the Aborigines, and yet they hope to smooth it out with some pathetic apology that has no ongoing structure for compensation or future prevention. The Pope should just get lost!

    Couln't have sai it better. The Catholic Church has to be one of the larger inernational paedophile rings.
