Benedict said all Catholics—especially legislators, jurists and political leaders—should work to create “a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all stages of its development,” the Vatican said.

I guess if all of America were Catholic this would apply. But last time I checked there were many different religions represented in America. If you are a politician you represent the people...not your own self-interests.

Yeah medievaltimes I agree with you.

Inside the compound of your own home or personal property you can follow your religion and beliefs, to a point, but you can't force the Pope's/Catholics beliefs on the world. < :-)

In their 15-minute meeting, the Vatican said Benedict spoke of the church’s teaching “on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death.” That is an expression often used by the pope when expressing opposition to abortion.

I think the Pope could use one of those 15 minute meetings with God. That stance does not quite jibe with the fact that many fertilized eggs fail to stick to the womb on their own. Really, the Pope should tell God to get out of the abortion business. It would save more fertilized eggs than trying to convince Pelosi, that is for sure.

If the Pope wants all Catholics to have kids maybe he should allow his priests to get married.

Nice guy, but he wears a dress.
