I hope the pope also spared a thought for those who have suffered at the hands of the church, like those physically and sexually abused.

Reflecting the pope’s hope that Christian minorities can survive in their homelands, Archbishop Matti Shaba Matouka told the 300 worshippers: “No matter how hard the storm blows, love will save us.”

Stay true to yourselves but stay safe. Prayers go out, may God be your guardian.

Now if Christians anywhere would have attacked a mosque the entire Islamic nation would be out for blood of everyone they say. How ironic the Christians are the ones these days that are exercising restraint and they still get criticized but if it were the other way around we'd be appeasing galore and blaming ourselves.

Christianity has had 600 years more than Islam to start pulling out of the Stone Age, which is why the Pope can call for patience, hope, and restraint instead of revenge. Ultimately, though, charitable impulses come from a humble/realistic view of humanity, and our place and future in the world. Religion has had nothing to do with it, though believers like to claim goodness for themselves.

    What a ridiculous assessment.

Well, most Christian nations were introduced to secularism in the last few hundred years (before then, it was not so different from the theocratic countries in the Middle East).

Now, if only secularism could spread over there, as well.

Secularism is not something that spreads itself. Because we had xtianity, we have "secularism."
