Prince Charles named world's best dressed man
LONDON —
Prince Charles has beaten off competition from U.S. President Barack Obama to be named the world’s best dressed man by Esquire magazine.
“He is perfectly turned out in a double-breasted suit. Admirably, the prince keeps his wardrobe in appropriate style: we’re told he has a room laid out like a tailor’s shop,” the men’s magazine said.
Prince Charles, 60, keeps it simple and has worn suits by Saville Row tailors Gieves and Hawkes, complete with pocket handkerchief and silk tie, for years. Esquire said he was “always incredibly well dressed”.
The prince, who is heir to the British throne, beat off competition from Obama, artist David Hockney, tennis player Roger Federer and U.S. rapper Andre 3000.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown, however, was named one of the worst dressed, with the magazine noting he had once “turned up in the Iraqi desert wearing black lace-ups.”
London Mayor Boris Johnson—renowned for his slightly chaotic appearance—was also criticized for having “jacket pockets like second-hand bookshops, and hair the result of an encounter with a ghost in a wind tunnel.”

How underwhelming. Besides Obama, the competition seems non-existent.

No he doesn't. His lackeys do that for him. Maybe they should get the award.

He does dress well. But when you have the cash and the staff to tailor make your suits you have an edge on the majority.

No Cleo, they get something much more "important." A knighthood.

Pomp and Circumstance.

The security bubble that surrounds him, and immaculate preparation by his lackeys and those who receive him also ensure that he looks good in his clothes; he never has to squash in with three other people on a seat, walk across a muddy street, or be caught in the rain without an umbrella ...
But I must say his choice of a horizontally striped tie and vertically striped shirt is rather poor though.... Jeeves would not be impressed.

Best dressed? I suppose so, given the alternative.

Andre 3000? Obviously Chucky is better-dressed than a robot.
And thanks to the wire reports for pointing out that were talking about the heir to the British throne, as opposed to some other Prince Charles.

Totally agree. HRH would have made his uncle Edward proud.

Yeah, best dressed, but heck, I could be best dressed if I had his money to afford the clothes.

Some journalists - relying on second/ third hand information, royal tittle-tattle, or maybe just pure gossip....

I think he carries himself with great dignity and style considering the different circumstances. He deserves the award.

Well, I guess this is an Anglo-Saxon taste (it's so British!)... I don't think French or Italian magazine would agree with this choice !

How can this be? BO runs circles around everybody and everything in all categories, flip flops and long pants not withstanding. Obviously Chris Matthews didn't have a vote.
