I don't think it's all that unrealistic. If you've ever lived anywhere even remotely close to one of those factory farms in particular you know that the whole area for miles and miles around it reeks to high heaven.

My little rural town has farmers who keep pigs and cattle. They're far removed from the giant factory farms, but local residents do complain about the smell and every now and then get up petitions to Do Something About It. So far nothing has happened.

Personally I find the smell of frying bacon much more revolting.

Do dairy cows produce more gas than beef cattle?

Cutting down the amount of meat consumed and eating healthy veggies, grains and legumes makes a lot of sense (unless you're a livestock breeder) but cutting down the amount produced and simply importing the difference seems to be simply hitting yourself over the head - unless you also put a gas tariff on imports.

from here on: I am charging 100¥ per human fart or belch. -We must control these humans by any means possible. Bow down to your fearless leader.

Ha, ha, -and in the meantime I make billions.

this law is either pure stupidity or pure genius:

-but don't the politicians realize that they would be the ones paying the most? Lawmakers never tax their own -therefore I must question their logic.

Seems to all be a bunch of hot noxious (of course taxable) gas to me.

Financials, Retailers, Automakers: In trouble Farmers: doing ok -therefore we must ruin them somehow Typical Marxist ideals.

The solution is to strap a catalytic converter onto the livestock.

Heh..heh..heh, this dumbass law originates during gwb watch.

    Aw-w-w mission accomplished. Total stupidity.

goodDonkey, who's going to clean that catalytic converter during rush-hour and frequent deposits? < :-)

I want to tax the politicians for all of the harmful gasses they spew on a daily basis. Those communist tools at PETA supporting this kind of stupidity need to be called out for the choice denying kooks that they are. I don't personally eat a lot of meat but anyone with half a brain can tell this doesn't pass the um smell test.
