The union wants pilots for other Qantas Group airlines, like Jetstar, to be paid the same rates as Qantas pilots and we cannot agree to this.”

That's all well and good if Qantas customers ride on Qantas planes. Frequently however, Qantas customers (as well as JAL customers) are forced to ride on a code-share flight operated by Jetstar.

Qantas do have some of the best pilots, but as a company they have been shooting themselves in the foot, treating staff and customers like dirt, outsourcing their repairs and now staff for a few years now. I think it is a matter of time before a serious accident befalls Qantas. How to ruin a perfect brand 101.

Qantas maintenance is garbage, several times the media has reported being holes forming on the plane and other things occurring in mid-flight! its slightly loosing is safest airline in the world reputation unfortunately..

Rod Mcalpin, having crew that costs less is not everything. After a series of maintenance problem from using cheap labor. So how many people will have to die for "cheap"? They could lose everything just to make a quick profit.
