100 000 free tickets ! This initiative will very likely quicken the pace of Qantas' fall I am afraid ? Meantime, this will dwarf J Govt's tiny effort of 10 000 free tickets for promoting Japan's tourism ! Now as the competition becoming fierce, 1 000 000 free tickets please, anyone ?

Plenty of money for bonuses, exec pay rises and now free tickets but not enough to pay the people who made it a reputable airline in the first place. Wheres the money coming from? They mustn't have much after all the terrible rolling strikes that were said to be costing so much, or does this mean that despite the cost of union action they still managed to make large profits?

Scoobydoo, it's called trying to win back consumer confidence something that was seriously eroded thanks to the greedy unions. You know the ones that caused this issue the ones being investigated for tampering with aircraft, the ones who threatened people's lives.

Will do nothing to change the fact that they are a crappy, unsafe airline.

Surely that's what it is but the question still stands. Wheres the money coming from? Surely this whole action by the CEO was not dreampt up over night. Its also a little hard to believe that workers would tamper with items that would jeopardize safety and that unions would endorse that action. Its believable that disgruntled individuals would do this or management has used half truths to fabricate this kind of story to defame the unions infront of the public.
As I said before striking in Oz is illegal without asking mom (Not a personal slur spidapig). I guess we can see if they are really fair dinkum about their rights and as a whole and hand in their resignations. As I recall there is also an act to deal with that scenario making it illegal.

Oh yes it must be the management that did it! For sure. The suspected sabotage wasnt something that would endanger safety, it was damage to in seat entertainment systems (namely wires cut behind the units). More just to be a hinderance than a danger. And yes hardly something the unions would endorse but more like something a disgruntled worker would do thinking they would stick it to QANTAS

Hi spidapig, I never said management did any sabotage, how did you read that into the post? It is possible for management to use half truths in their smear campaign against the unions. Surely both sides do it. Any way got a bit off topic now.
