I'm just waiting for the quacks at Fox News to declare that there is no Global warming! How can we have climate change when it is snowing in October!

The snowctorm was nothing be blamed but massive blackouts in northeast America reflected that nation has downgraded like a third world country after 10 years of wars in middleeast!

This must be global cooling.

And I'm just waiting to see how Obama's fans - people who like to vent against imaginary price gouging in relatively free markets - are going to enjoy paying higher fuel prices to support Obama's deliberate sabotaging of coal and gas development in the US.
"Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket."

Interesting how an article about the weather gets half of its comments (3 of 6 so far) directed at politics instead of the article, and the mods let it slide.
Global Warming - according to the scientists - results in extreme weather on BOTH ends of the thermometer. So yes, you can have freak snowstorms during a period of global warming.
We just caught the edge of this storm. It stayed just above freezing where I live and we only saw occasional sleet and sporadic snowflakes, but only 40 miles north they got 2 inches of snow on the ground. In the nearby mountains it was about 12 inches.

We already had 20cm of snow on October 4 in Hokkaido. Didn't make CNN though. Be careful with your 2 inches of snow, Fadamor, they melt and turn into nasty ice. Better wear your spike shoes today outside.

I can't ship parts because there's no power at the receiving end until further notice. I guess it's pretty ugly.

At least we don't have thousands of people dying every time something happens.

Snowing in October isn't unheard of. In fact I would imagine that it snows every october in the US. Just not as frequently as it does in December and or January.

That was a lot of wet heavy snow, not light fluffy snow because the weather was not cool enough yet. Enough wet heavy snow snaps branches off trees. Snapped branches break electrical lines. A lot of wet heavy snow means many broken electrical lines. Parts of New England got 12+ inches of wet heavy snow.
