Reading stories like this makes me want to go home to Australia. I really miss the heat, the shimmering haze on the horizon, walking outside as a kid with bare feet (ending up at the end of summer with feet so tough you can walk over glass).

Yes, I would also like to go to Australia right now - Im sick of this cold in Tokyo. Melbourne is a beautiful place, too - one of the world`s truly beautiful cities, with nice friendly people.

Agree with both of you. When I was in Aus. for 'winter' three years ago the heat on New Year's Day hit 47 degrees, but it was still pretty cool in the shade. And of course, you have miles of beautiful beach to go for a dip in.

It might be 45 degrees but at least it's not humid. It's actually really nice to just bake for a while but Japan's 30 degree summers and humidity is too much for me.

*It might be 45 degrees but at least it's not humid. * Depends where you go in Australia. As a continent rather than just a country (like Japan), Australia has weather that greatly varies depending on where you are. Trust me, there are places in Australia that are so humid that mould can start growing on your skin.

I feel sorry for the tennis players. The tournament is given a completely different meaning in the Australian weather. The players must not only fight their opponents but also the sheer unbearable heat.

Australian scientists say that higher temperature will cause desertification and insufficient harvest after 2025.
