For what it is worth, this is how I see the North Korean government ending. A lot of parallels here.

The bodies of this evil pair shouldn't be allowed to pollute the good green earth. I still remember those scenes of children in "orphanages" under their disastrous regime.

Klein2: One could only hope. I see parallels, too, but NK could also go the way of Albania, whose transition from Enver Hoxha was rather more peaceful.
Nicky C. was partly done in by a wave of youth created through his own abortion ban from 1966, and partly by the (related) lukewarm allegiance of the security forces, not just his paranoia, abuse of the state, and utter disdain for his people. (I'm sure there are those in Romania who regret that he and his wife could only be killed once.)
The Kim father and son combi have for their part proven much more resilient. Nicky C. was never able to successfully pass on the reins to his progeny. Still, hope the exhumation solves the lawsuit and the good people of Romania can move on.

Comparison with North Korea is all fine, but the Romania of the 80's (especially after '85) was probably a much worse place to live than nowadays NK. The economy simply collapsed and the lack of everything would have been awful...

About time! I always thought the Ceausescus were just exhumations in-the-making.

Sadly, you are wrong. I'd like to agree, I would. But Romania didn't have mass starvation that NK has experienced. People were short of staples, some were desperately short of food, but people rarely starved to death. NK though...
