Looks like the UK is going to have to take a much more serious look into what's going on under the surface.

This article should not imply that the British were abusing their children.

1400, over 16 years, in population of 250K. Is that a lot?

Heard the stories a while back. But those might not contribute too much to the total altough receiving widespread coverage. 1400 is their estimate based on a sampling of case files. Case files are not evenly distributed over the timespan.

Here's the Rotherham report: http://www.rotherham.gov.uk/downloads/file/1407/independent_inquiry_cse_in_rotherham

Its happening all over the UK, and in fact all over Europe. But the authorities can´t do anything because of political correctness. They´d be accused of racism and islamophobia if they acted.

reading the british newspapers, you would think incorrectly that the culprits were of korean, japanese, chinese or malaysian descent, as articles label them as "asian". technically, pakistan is in asia, but articles should be more specific (e.g. south asia). the demographics between east/southeast and south/west asia are like night and day.

In colloquial UK English "Asian" generally means Indians and Pakistanis, "Orientals" is used to describe Chinese, Japanese, Koreans etc.

Only in the country, expanding this rationale, that mistakenly calls itself "America."

As turbostat mentions, what's the background perspective here? What is the incidence in the wider population, especially those in similar socioeconomic conditions? Too many unanswered questions.

Recent high profile court cases demonstrate that celebrities, at least, are no longer immune from prosecution for destroying children's lives, yet we see little progress (should we expect any?) in investigating Thatcher-era abuse by those in the Establishment.

I'm just amazed that a municipality of 250,000 is still considered a "town". I live in a "city" of 55,000.
