Now Christian haters! What do you say now there is 100% proof Jesus rose from the dead and is the son of God. The carbon dating was always considered unreliable by church experts. Finally the disbelievers have all the proof needed to show the Shroud and Jesus were real!!!

Oh come on! Enough with this. The guy died 2000 years ago, let him rest!

What do you say now there is 100% proof Jesus rose from the dead and is the son of God.

Where does anything in the article say that? All it says is that it might (or might not) be older than previously thought and there may (or may not) be barely-distinguishable lettering on it.

And that everything points to it's being a fake.

Not a word about resurrection or divine ancestry.

Sad how the superstitious are eager to clutch at any straw to bolster their faith.

The image of Jesus could not have been faked at the time as such methods were unavailable. Anyone who cannot see that this proves Jesus`s image is on the shroud are too stubborn to admit the truth.

I have to side with cleo on this one. It might or might not be. That is all. However, the good book testifies of a man who willed and it happened. Water into wine, dead rose, and his important message about the Love of God and how we are all in this together. In this message I see the transfigured shroud in everyday life.

    DickMorris -

    From the article -

a professor of chemistry at the University of Pavia....recently led a team of experts that reproduced the shroud using materials and methods available in the 14th century

    ...You were saying?

I asked my cousin once, why do people talk so much about Catholicism and why so many folk stories regarding it attract so much discussion? She said because obviously it is the most interesting religion in the eyes of mass Media. She was joking but like Aristophanes said, in joking you may say the blunt truth. Or something similar. Two thousand years and people still love to talk about it.

cleo; But the Shroud is from ancient times not the 14th century as claimed by the University of pravia team, which is now discredited by Vatican experts.

I they sure it doesn't read "to my darling, Candy".

Heh, but thanks for the flat-earther spoof, Dick Morris. It's kinda scary to be reminded that the people you're making fun of actually exist!

    DickMorris -

Even if we were sure the shroud dated from the time of Christ - and we're not - how does that 'prove' that the image is that of Jesus, or that Jesus rose from the dead or is/was the son of God? Why couldn't it be the image of anyone who happened to die around that time?

To all the disbelievers; It states in the article that it has "jesus of Nazareth" written in Greek and this could only have occurred at the time of Christ. The evidence is overwhelming, surely a child could see the fact that this shroud was theone in which Jesus lay.

DickMorris: Do you really think that the Vatican will announce the Shroud is a fake? Get realist. If it's a fake, will it affect your faith? I don't think so.

TumbleFry: The Vatica shall speak the truth and does. The shroud has the image of Jesus on it which happened when he arose after being executed.

The evidence is overwhelming, except for those who will never believe.

DickMorris: "The Vatica shall speak the truth and does" I think they don't but doesn't change change my faith.

Dick - It states in the article that Frale asserts that the words include the name Jesus of Nazareth. It also states that Antonio Lombatti and Gian Marco Rinaldi point out that there are no letters on the shroud; they're a figment of her imagination. there are no inscriptions to be seen in the first place. And that a Jewish shroud at the time of Christ would not have Latin written on it.

The evidence is underwhelming, unless you're blindly eager to believe.
