You know if the United States had played nice, I'm not saying North Korea has no faults, instead of this "Axis of Evil" and refusing to talk to the enemy, most of the late term accomplishments of the george bush administration could have been realized years ago.

But no, with dick cheney prodding him on, george bush walked around with a swagger of a lunitic. Barking threats like a school yard bully.

It's just too bad that the man that said, i'm a uniter, turned out to be the biggest wedge in United States foreign policy in many years. < :-)

Why is North korea America's concern anyway ? They don't produce anything the US wants or needs and they're not in the same region. NK is Japan's concern ! NK is Koreas concern ! NK is Chinas concern ! Why can't these nations reel them in ??? Good to see the US has the nads, and gunpowder, to address the little tyrant threatening the region. But then again... why does the USA constantly have to fight the battles of other nations ? We Americans are tired of it ! Funny, we Americans have excellent relations with "our" neighbours ! Open borders, free trade, mass exodus of people in and out... why can't the rest of the planet act as united as we are ? Maybe Bush should share his secrets of foreign policy with the rest of the planet when he retires from office... take Condi with him too !

Maybe because the rest of the world realized that NK like Iraq, etc is NOT a threat to the rest of the world.

Sound funny, can ME/Korean missiles hit europe(never mind USA who are protected by a large ocean from the rest of the world).

Yeah, they can hit close neighbours, no dice there BUT why is the US protecting those neigbbours. Just goodwill, purity of their hearts or because they can make a buck?

    The answer is yours.

"NK like Iraq, etc is NOT a threat to the rest of the world."

Sorry to disagree ! But I was in Japan when they launched that missle over Japan and into the pacific a few years back ! "No Threat" ??? That act alone should have provoked the Japanese into action. I can't imagine Cuba launching a "scud dud" into lake Erie without the US responding. But then again, this is Japan we are talking about. The North Koreans knew Japan would do nothing... and true to form, they didn't ... just whine about abductions... which "nobody" gives a hoot about !

    I was there too.

So what should japan have done? Invade them? Nuke them? Go medieval on them and wipe them out.

Sorry, LOL, you guys that rely on military power to get your way been proven wrong millenia ago.

What Japan should have done is called for full scale high level meetings with various international agencies and the parties directly involved. Japan should have spoken quietly but carried a big stick into that meeting... but most of all Japan should have never allowed itself to become the target of this rogue nation. Fact is the NK's know Japan won't do anything ! And like all bullies the NK's will continue until Japan... not the USA, does something. But Japan has lost touch with reality. They have no negotiation skills ! Their policy of moaning about abductees and trying to starve the North Koreans has been an absolute failure as well as an international joke ! Japan now simply needs to get out of the way and let others fight its battles for them... thus losing more and more respect in the eyes of the international community ! Much like Canada, nations that rely on others for their security are rarely respected in the large scale forums. Sorry, but thats the way the world works.
