For anyone wanting to know how hardcore the situation is watch the Brazilian movie Elite Squad.

Of course this Bleeding Heart Liberal organization wants to defend the criminals. Typical liberal crap. The residents however feel the opposite of what Amnesty International believes. It's good to see the Brazilians take control of the situation. Too bad Mexico couldn't do the same.

“Those of us who work, who are not involved with the (drug) traffic, we have nothing to fear,” said the man, who didn’t want to be identified for fear of retaliation, because he wasn’t sure law enforcement would be able to hold on. Am I reading that statement right? It does not seem to make sense.

What he's saying is that he doesn't know if the police operation would be successful, so if the gangs win this round and head back, he could be sure of a terrifying, agonizing torture and death. He's therefore afraid of being identified for saying what he thinks.

My Brazilian friends, born and raised there would never ever go into these bad slums, look at the pictures on the internet, the Brazilian police and army are armed to the teeth, so as not to get killed or injured by these drug gangs. I just hope this show of force by the Brazilian government is not only of the Olympics and for the World Cup but you know, kind of like after all the tourists get back on the plane, hopefully our Brazilian amigos can share some good times with out fear of crime.
