The residents of Tottenham are from various backgrounds and cultures. The majority of residents and those who took part on the riot were native British who were born in the country. The majority had parents or grandparents originating from abroad but i do not see what that has to do with the riots.

Tottenham is a hole. They used this guy's death as a reason to loot and steal from innocent people in the area. And 29, although youngish, is not that young.

steve: "The majority had parents or grandparents originating from abroad but i do not see what that has to do with the riots."

And yet here you are bringing it up. I'm just surprised you didn't try to bring in single-parent families.

"The residents of Tottenham are from various backgrounds and cultures."

So are the residents of a lot of places. What's your point?

Shot to death after a gunfight? This can't be a reason for rioting. This can only be called on excuse.

Indeed there are people out there whose only cause is trouble. And the only thing that gives them satisfaction is trouble. And the only joy in their lives seems to be to cause an affront to others. Any group, whether it be protestors, police, bosses or yes even racists, you have to be careful to separate them from those just in the game to cause trouble and affrontery or you will blame the whole falsely and misunderstand them.

It sounds like the first riots were understandable. But this new round doesn't. It seems that those who might have had a cause in the first, have let themselves be drawn in again by these people I mention who simply relish trouble and the pain of others. Yes, even among the looters, there are such types, who did not steal that TV set because they wanted one or they felt disenfranchised. They stole it because it would give the store owner anguish.

Not a good look with the Olympics just around the corner being held down the street from the riots. True, Tottenham is a very poor area awash with drugs, violence and crime (and an awful soccer team to boot) but you just wouldnt expect these scenes in 2011 London. Bad PR for London, sadly.

The incident leading up to this is still unclear. What is not mentioned above is that a policeman was also shot, his life apparently save by his radio that deflected a bullet.

How it all led to this riot is confusing.

Lacking details. The police were going to arrest him - seems he was well known to them for certain issues that I haven't seen released. He shot at the police, they fire back. These riots are, as others have mentioned, just an excuse to behave badly. Racism is also just an excuse and not a reality IMO.

And yes, Tottenham is a hole. Hopefully they will arrest the rioters like they have in the past and justice will deal with them accordingly.

Shop windows were smashed as residents looted stores, pushing shopping carts full of stolen goods down the street.

How does this bring back Mark? Most of the looters probably do not even know his name.

steve, no doubt they all had working mothers eh?

Hoser, I would go with SAHM - with no husband and no job.

  • -1

    steve@CPFC

tmarei; That's the way the middle class like it, stereotypes and pigeon holing those less well off than them Guess it amkes them feel better, though there is no evidence to prove SAHM ,no husband , no job. unlike when i make points about serious matters and certain sections of socviety i back it up with links. University education, don't you just love it??

    Hardly a troll steve.

The non-working class that are out breeding us Europeans are literally a growing problem, a cancer to our society.

There's more to this story than meets the eye. British police don't shoot a man dead regularly during a routine arrest. It isn't LA.

in a perverse way, keeping a close eye on the met-police and how they behave is a good thing and when they, the old bill, step out of line, there should be some reaction (without a riot though). shame a man died, tragic.

  • -1

    Madverts

The people rioting and looting are doing so because they can, not in memory of the dead man. As long as your PC crowd defend the non-working class and lay the blame for their actions on the so-called middle class, that actually foot the bill for a third generation of people who have never worked then the cancer continues to spread.

Forced labour in exchange for food and labour before they outbreed those of us that do work for a living and pay taxes. Before the extreme right get into power.

    steve@CPFC

Madverts; go back to the Daily Mail. you worried the violence will amke house prices fall? So ! ia m Victorian father, living in teh 50's a hippy and now PC crowd? I don't blame on middle class. I blame on society. I blame those who haven't had to live through deprivation or have empathy for it to pick on these people. Of course some of tehm are deadbeats! Try growing up with parents who are dependent on substances, who care noting for your education and refuse to work. Society does not put anything in place to stop other generations becoming the same as they know no better.

You wonder why they don't work!!!! Food for labour!!! yeah, who pays to implement it and do they get minimum wage? Extrem right get into power!!! hahaha, in Britain where they are almost out of existance? Britain is not 1930's Germany.

  • -1

    Madverts

Well when legislation is passed for you self-proclaimed PC obsessed to bear the brunt of the cost of feeding, housing and the "family" support for the fourth generation of leeches, whilst those of us that wish bot to are exempt then I'm all for it.

Until then they should be put to work for their "bennies". And ot should return to being a disgrace living off handouts...rather than it being the norm.

Now if you'd care to stay on topic...?

  • 1

    steve@CPFC

Madverst; I am fine for paying taxes to help teh sub class better themselves. Unlike many, because if they are gone tehn who do we nblame all societies ills on? Oh yes, there is still johnny foreigner. bOf course these people are born leeches and rioters, nothing to do with environment of course.

Yeah great idea, amke them work to live in poverty. Yet that will teach them to be brought up badly in sink schools and have no self esteem and social skills. No more riots as well.

  • -1

    Madverts

Three generations that has been tried. And utterly failed. 99% have no intention of "bettering themselves" they are better off on benefits and they breed irresponsibly. So yeah, I demand you PC types continue to pay solely, and shoulder the debt for your Titanic-esque, failed social experiment, whilst the rest of us not subscribing to the madness, be exempt from financing it.

Paying people to do nothing is the root of the cancer. Leftwing madness only exacberates the malaise.

  • 1

    steve@CPFC

Madverts; What socaial experiment have i been part of? I think the British government policies from 60's onwards of making souless estates, lowering education, allowing sink schools in deprived areas, teenage girls free council housing, many other things. It is deep rooted and the policies have been made by right and left. There is no dignity in many areas and places, I managed to get out of on eof those areas literally by leaving with my stuff packed in rucksacks to a little bedsit when i was young.

You acnnot blame kids for how they become because of poor parenting and poor gov policies. They need a proper upbringing then riots and disorder will not be an option.

  • 1

    steve@CPFC

Madverts; The government pays in benefits what they have decided is the minimum amount needed to live on. If they are better off on benefits what has caused that to happen. Benefits are actually low, only housing benefits are high due to high rents becaus eof lack of housing.

There is no excuse for rioting and looting and there is also no excuse for painting a whole section of society as filth.,

  • 1

    tmarie

Steve, you might want to look into the demographics of the area and get back to me.

  • 1

    Madverts

"You acnnot blame kids for how they become because of poor parenting and poor gov policies"

I'm blaming kids for having kids and succesive goverments for financing and even inticing their breeding in the way living off the state is made so comfortable and common-place. Fact is that teenage girls in the non-working class get pregnant with the sole intent of getting installed in a house and not having to work. Then the next father comes along until there's several more infants with hungry mouths to feed. I am part of a growing number of European taxpayers that no longer want to pay for this growing cancer, but I'm more than willing for those of you that do, to shoulder the cost at extra tax for you and you alone.

This ritoing is nothing but criminal oppertunism from the non-working class, and as we've seen it's spreading.

  • -1

    steve@CPFC

Madverts; I have stated before and will again that i am not in favour of priority houisng that encourages young girls to get pregnant, claim benefits and leave the family home. You cannot blame kids for the situation they were born into. If their parnets are deadbeats who spedn the benefits on drink and drugs and don't care about their kids education, how will a child end up. I know it is like a cancer but you don't undertsand that we need to make things bettre for kids, whether by social services intervention or rules on what beenfit can buy for those who prove to abuse the system.

You cannot blame all unemployed and certainly not their children. I think you will find that a number of thoese rioters are working people. Seems like you are scapegoating a particular section of society for all socities problems. Aint that easy. You have no choice how your taxes a re soent unless you demonstrate and bring in new laws or another government.

His point is obviously that the riots did erupt in a monocultural hick town... or for that matter in a Japanese immigrant neighbourhood. In case you didn´t notice.
