Pretty funny - the GOP nomination has proven the old adage: If you can fool them once, you can fool them again (Cain) **and **again (Bachmann) and again (Perry) and again (Newt) and again (Santorum) and again (Mitt).
Where I come from, anyone who falls for stuff that many times would probably be on the funny farm.
In America, the same types are fans of Fox News. :-)

Yes, the American caucus system is different from the parliamentary system you have in New Zealand. I hope most JT contributors are smart enough to understand.

Jeremiah - this has nothing to do with parliamentary or caucus systems and everything to do with bad judgement and a lack of credible choices.
I would hope most JT contributors are smart enough to understand this.

Looks like Romney's organizational flair is going to be a formidable force . Obama lost his mojo about mid 2009. The job of president has also really aged the guy. He looks haggard of late, edgy and yet distracted. One thing is for sure. No one is buyin Hope and Change anymore.

Go Ron! The voice of reason is what America needs or they will suffer a great deal. Wake up! Wake up! Believe in your Constitution. Liberty is a wonderful thing don't give it up to your control freakish government.

It's a shame Republican politics are simply about mud-slinging and ad hominem attacks and nothing else. I actually respected Gingerich for announcing that he was not going to run a negative campaign, but of course he quickly changed his tune when the blood-thirsty GOP supporters stood behind the others who DID only mud-sling. A 28 minute video attacking a candidate instead of spending the time talking about what you propose and would do for the nation is just sick. Sicker still is that Republicans not only by into it, but seem to love it.

Because the Senate wouldn't allow it. There have been more filibusters during Obama's time in office than all of GWB's combined, no? It doesn't matter WHAT the Democrats propose, the GOP simply says no because the Dems proposed it -- hence, "party of 'no'".

Personally, I was floored he could be so naive. He's been around in U.S. politics for decades and has been the author of a lot of mud-slinging and negativity himself. To think that he even for a moment thought he could differentiate himself by 'going positive' was funny even before he tried it.

Agreed. All it does is hide the blatantly obvious reality that when it comes to plans and strategies to move America forward, the conservative Right doesn't actually have any.
Almost as sad, it seems conservative voters don't even care that their representatives are clueless.
In fact, they wear ignorance and hate as a badge of pride.
Amazing to see U.S. politics sink so low.
Americans deserve better.

True that.
Looks like the Tea Party won after all.
All of the super smart people mocked them and dismissed them. But you are correct, It was the TP voters who got their guys into the Senate and it was the TP that killed Hope and Change.

Newt Gingrich is a disgrace to himself, the GOP and the United States. He is going to hand the election to President Obama for his petty revenge.

And it's the TP that is splintering the Right, and both the GOP and TP that is kicking hard-working Americans in the guts by not supporting any type of job-creation legislation whatsoever.
Add to that, the Right's "Cut taxes!" mantra is idiotic almost beyond belief - GWB cut taxes and look what happened - recession. Seems conservatives have extremely short memories.
The current crop of GOP/TP representatives has been the most destructive, anti-American political group in recent memory.
Game, set, and soon match to the Democrats.

Sushi Sake 3, the only chance he ever had was if people failed to mention his past based on some sort of misquided clean fight code. The man has mud slinging capabilities as strong as everyone else. His problem is that he is a massive target, and rightly so. He wasted the countries time, money and prestige by attacking a president for the exact things he was doing at that moment. I don't hate for him sex life, I hate him for what he did to the country at that time. His hypocrisy knows no bounds. And look! Here is a man who had a big hand in setting the mud slinging tone, and now he calls for it to end when his number comes up? If hypocrisy was a criminal offense, this guy would be serving consecutive life sentences! Hard to believe he got anyone to support him.

Ron Paul is the best choice.

Big news! Stephen Colbert has transferred control of his superPAC, a necessary step towards officially entering the race.
Finally, a Republican candidate with scruples, intelligence, and integrity!

Sorry smith, your Dems have taken that particular title. They aren't even proposing anything anymore, just waiting til Republicans propose stuff, then say no. Democrats since 2010, have now become the party of No. No ideas, and no solutions. All they do is criticize the Republican for proposing ideas that were they implemented would create real change. Spurring the economy and reducing the deficit. Sad that the Dems have fallen so far.
Coming from you that means, absolutely nothing. Dems use ignorance and hate as their primary weapons. They depend on it. Promoting hate between the haves and the have nots, depending on the ignorance of the masses to get themselves re-elected. Whats amusing is that they then try to accuse Republicans of using them. As if to say, no, don't look at us, we're not the ones who are corrupt. We're not the hatemongers... It really is pathetic to watch.
lol, you mean you're no longer supporting Huntsman to be Obamas running mate? Huntsman, the Democrats choice!
On the subject of the article. I have to say, I've never been a Romney supporter. As a person who believes in a small, limited, constitutional government, I've never believed Romney was the right person. Although I have to say, of all the people who were running for President 4 years ago, he was the best choice out of all of them. Hillary being 2nd. However I don't particularly like the guy. That said, these attacks by Newt and Perry have turned me off to them entirely. After Cain and Bachman withdrew, I was seriously considering voting for Gingrich, and debated supporting Perry as well. Now though, I'll probably vote for Paul, who is a complete nutcase.

Hilarious, isn't it. Dem president, majorities in House and Senate and they have not submitted a federal budget for three years. But yeah, "the party of No" in smith's upside down world is the Republicans.
