Stay strong Zelda! Remember it takes that one in a million to ruin all the positive and sympathetic tweets you received. No doubt you have 100,000 or more supporters per 1 insensitive jerk.

All I've read, seen, and heard your father was a good man. And he entertained tens of millions of us over the years. Difficult shoes to fill in all accounts.

I swear, some people just enjoy taking delight and using other people's grief to harass and to torment emotionally distraught individuals. I have nothing but condemnation for these jerks that hide behind their PC get their kicks in doing this, but are way too cowardly to say something that hurtful to a persons face. I believe in freedom of speech, but sometimes, a little common sense and moral etiquette should prevail first and foremost. Funny thing is, these people would be the first to curse you out if you would do the same thing to them. But these people never put themselves in other people's shoes. Define "ignorance and selfishness."

Zelda Williams, 25, wrote that she was stepping away from her Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram accounts “for a good long time, maybe forever.”

Completely anonymous contact with total strangers who can remain anonymous is a recipe for disaster. There are some really evil and mental people out there and in real life you could spot most of them from a mile away.

We have all encountered trolls before right? They love your pain. Nothing better in life for them. Unfortunately some of them have positions of power and we cannot just block them. Some of them actually run popular websites.

Fortunately the insensitive jerks are few. The vast majority of people are good people. It takes only one sometimes to tarnish views in general. Nobody has bad comments on Robin Williams. He was respected everywhere. Philanthropic, humorous, friendly (love the bass4funk run in with R.W. posted a couple days ago), whitty, brilliant, and always had what it takes off the cuff with his humor.

An All Blacks fan and collected bicycles just like me! How could you not like him!

Not sure why anyone is surprised, welcome to the internet

I agree with dcog9065

Yes the people giving the abuse are total losers but when you put yourself openly and freely available on the net, there will be consequences at some point.

Some otherwise perfectly normal people become malevolent trolls when they sit in front of a computer screen. Go on the web, and you're fair game for their brickbats. Which is why you won't find me on Facebook, Twitter or any of the others.

These cruel messages sent must all be suffering from Asperger's syndrome...incapable of having emotions and feelings...they should just be ignored and given no importance whatsoever. They might even find it fun if we react.

@Marilita

I suggest you learn some more about Asperger's Syndrome. While sufferers may say things that appear "thoughtless" to others, deliberate cruelty is not a trait. And lacking empathy is not the same as lacking emotions and feelings.

Trolling and internet abuse need to be taken seriously, not just shrugged off. These people are scum, brainless scum with as much empathy as your average 3 tonne lorry. Cruel, heartless, sick and twisted are too mild a description for them.

Mr.Robin Williams, even though I never met him personally, must have been a great man, actor, father, comedian etc...I feel very sorry for his kids to have idiot fools come out of the wood work now and say mean things to Robin Williams and his suicide. His kids are just that HIS KIDS!! They do not see their dad as an actor, he is their FATHER!! So what if Zelda did not take enough pics with her dad to put up on Facebook,Twitter etc...MAYBE SHE WAS TRYING TO MAINTAIN a little PRIVACY?????? Can anybody in their right mind blame her???? NO!!! Only and idiot fool with a rotten soul and mean spirit would dare say that Robin William' daughter did not take enough pictures with here own DAD and that she took too many selfies etc...RIP ROBIN WILLIAMS and as one of his kids twitted, their will be a bunch of doves?? Pigeons etc...flying towards those mean, idiot fools and ready to POOP nice fresh turds all over the recently washed cars of those IDIOT FOOLS!! HAHAHAHA!!
