Maybe he should ask Palin for advice.

    Romney go home.

    manfromamerica

He had invested more than $40 million of his own money into the 2008 race

And what was his ROI on that? Go home Romney.

Not sure about Romney. I mean he was hands down the best candidate from the 2008 election, but will he be in 2012? I honestly don't know. I like the guy, and he sure as hell couldn't do a worse job then the ...person we have in there. But am gonna see who else is running before I commit to the guy who is going to be the next President.

    "Go home Romney"

What for? He sure as heck would be better than what we have now.

The current crop of potential Republican candidates leaves a lot to be desired. The GOP had better come up with some better choices or January 2013 might find a Republican-controlled Congress in conflict with the Democrat Obama once again in the White House, which would result in even less getting done.

Thats hard to imagine. I mean, if my dog ran for President, he'd be more effective and competent then the moron we have in there now. Sure as heck be a better leader. Romney is obviously smarter then my dog, which makes him about a million times better then our current President. The idea that anyone except the most partisan could look at 2 candidates, and pick the proven incompetent is ludicrous.

"Romney announces White House exploratory committee"

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !!! :-)

My toothpaste could do a better job of president than Romney. It's hard to imagine anyone who will create more angst on the Right than Mitt.

I mean, there's still some folks on the Right who think it's important for their president to be Christian - oh dear, Mitt's a Mormon.

Not that that would hinder anything he does, it's just that it might upset some folks. :-)

If Romney's the best the Right can put up.....wow....it's really not looking good.

Hold on - the Right's got Donald Trump! :-)

But if/when Trump runs, the voters are going to say, 'You're FIRED!'

Wow, I'd hate to find out what you compare Obama to then.

Sorry, exactly what are you saying here precisely?

you'd rather have Ronmeycare than Obamacare?

and besides, right now is the time for choosing the best GOP candidates. The "he's better than what we have now" line just doesn't cut it. I suggest you aim just a little higher.

guaranteed GOP losers (and rightfully so): Gingrich, Romney, Huckabee, Palin

Molenir, I'll explain my comment when you explain why people shouldn't be offended by your "I mean, if my dog ran for President, he'd be more effective and competent then the moron we have in there now." comment.

manfromamerica - "and besides, right now is the time for choosing the best GOP candidates."

That might be possible if some actually existed. If not, it's just a pipe dream blowing in the wind.

manfromamerica - "The "he's better than what we have now" line just doesn't cut it."

It will have to cut it when you look at the no-hoper candidates on the Right at the moment.

I am agreeing that most of the GOP candidates are absolutely faulty. However it seems all you want to post is "All Republicans are stupid", which is, frankly, childish.

Can we refrain from hate speech directed at Mormons. Harry Reid is one.

  • 0

    SushiSake3

Lieberman2012 - how is stating that a person is a Mormon "hate speech"?

Personally, it would probably be best for the GOP to just give up - they do not have anyone in their ranks who can take on Obama.

When - not if - Mitt Romney goes nowhere again, he will become a 2-time loser, not just 1-time, which will likely doom any future bid he ever decides to make.

Donald Trump......yes, it's probably not surprising that a former bankrupt, ego-driven TV game show host would align himself with the GOP, same values and all.

Actually, since real power in the United States is now in the hand of the House of Representatives and all Obama and the Democrats is react to the new reality. It makes perfect sense for the Republicans to offer up pretty lame challenges to him. A second term for Obama just means he will can continue to vote "present" on a GOP and Teaparty driven agenda. The guy is perfect as a foil now and to have him watch cave and cave.......GITMO, Bush Tax cuts, Spending cuts, roll back on Obamacare,.......Yup Sushi, them Repubs is sooo stupid.

Theres a big difference between pointing out the obvious fact that Obama is incompetent and demonizing someones religion.

Personally, it would probably be best for the GOP to just give up - they do not have anyone in their ranks who can take on Obama.

lol, they don't have anyone in their ranks who couldn't take on Obama. The only way the Dems will win in 2012 is if HRC is their candidate, and even she would have a tough time.

Lieberman2012 - how is stating that a person is a Mormon "hate speech"?

Stating a person is a mormon is fine, however that wasn't all you did. You then implied that Mormons weren't Christian. That is hate speech.

If that is hate speech, than no one is more guilty of it in its religious context than right-wing, evangelical Christians. Romney's Mormonism is castigated as a "cult" on many "Christian" websites, including mormoncult.org.

I don't care who is saying it, just like I don't care if the people spouting racist slogans agree with me politically. Wrong is wrong, even if they have the right politics.

I believe you would care if the people saying it were to the left of these very conservative religionists. Those of us who do care view what you termed "hate speech" as integral to their politics.

Hello? Muslims and Buddhists aren't Christian either.

    Is that hate speech too?

Reason I won't vote for Huckabee, not because I don't like his politics, I do. However in 2008 he came out against Romney's religion, that to me disqualified him. Wouldn't make a difference if Romney was Catholic or Buddhist to me. Bringing religion into politics like that offends me.

Hello? Muslims and Buddhists aren't Christian either.

The difference is simple, Mormons say they are Christians, those who say they aren't have an anti-mormon agenda. The same is true for those who go around calling Jehovahs Witnesses a cult. Attack a persons politics, thats fair game. Attack a persons religion, thats crossing the line, and if you're on either the left or right, I don't care.

To be fair though I have to admit I make a bit of an exception for Islam. Its hard not to when all you hear about Muslims is how they're beheading someone who disagrees with them, or killing a woman for 'allowing' herself to be raped.

"When - not if - Mitt Romney goes nowhere again, he will become a 2-time loser"

I hate to break it to my fellow Democrats but most Repubs are well aware that 90 percent of reporters are on our side and will try the best they can to anoint a suitable candidaite (read:easily beaten) for the GOP. 2008 we were miles ahead on social networks but it became obvious in last November's election that the other side caught up. Overt, over the top favoritism from the media can hurt Obama as much as help him. Which is why we need a challenger, regardless of who they run.

Besides Romney, John Boehner would be a logical choice for president in 2012. U.S. needs true statesman rather than a politician. John Boehner is such a statesman. He’s not an outsider but at least he seems to have some intelligence and a backbone. His knowledge of economics and conservative small goverment stance. He also has electoral advantage because he is from Ohio, the most important state in a general election.

I don't believe that visiting foreign countries in order to play golf qualifies as statesmanship. "Seeming to have some intelligence" isn't the most glowing example of praise that I've come across.

yabits at 06:46 AM JST - 15th April. I don't believe that visiting foreign countries in order to play golf qualifies as statesmanship. "Seeming to have some intelligence" isn't the most glowing example of praise that I've come across.

The politician as leader has always been a curious formulation. Politicians are rarely leaders. At the state or national level, try to name a senator or representative who's a true leader. It's likely to be no more than a handful of people. Most are elected because they reflect the views of their constituents, not because they've taken bold positions on controversial issues. Their own views of power and leadership can be sharply at odds with voters.

It's the executive positions, the governors and the president, that occasionally call for leadership. Can Obama still lead? But most ideas so far reflect exclusively the loony left ideology, which has been rejected by voters repeatedly over decades. He simply doesn't know what it means to be a leader. It's not that competence doesn't matter. The incompetence of the Obama administration is staggering and people are noticing. It's a shame. Obama entered office with tremendous political capital, more than any president in recent memory, but has squandered much of it in a remarkably short time.
