Russia is really raking in the bucks on these nuclear projects! Would really like to see the US do the same. Venezuela will be able to sell even more oil by reducing their own demand.

Sitting on the largest oil reserves in the western hemisphere (or was it gas?), Venezuela needs nuclear energy like it needs a hole in the head.

Remember when the US thought its problem was Cuba? Ah those were the good old days.

Venezuela does have a lot oil, it is the Petro dollar rich Cuba kind of South American version, but I do not think Chavez would be stupid enough to try to use this nuclear power plant to do something foolish like the Iranians now, who are obviously trying to make nuclear missiles to scare Israel and Saudi Arabia, so sorry Klien2, I have many amigos down in Venezuela, and they had way too many power outages so I do think Chavez is just looking to have reliable electric power for his country. Venezuela is not Iran.

I think it's mostly a gesture to create ties with Russia. No big deal.

Time for the world to find an alternative to oil. It's providing money and power to leaders who would otherwise be just irrelevant third-world dictators. They're able to buy toys they shouldn't have.

This is very much political agenda. VZ can solve their energy demands finishing all already started and agreed power projects in the country without further delay using Natural Gas and no need to wait 10 yrs Russian Nuke Projects. Also making Nuke Facility here, reminds me Chernobyl on early 80's. This is common policy what N-Korea and Iran doing and should not be allowed.
