I read somewhere recently that a treaty established about two decades ago recognized Ossetia as independent from Georgia and allowed Russia a peace-keeping force there. So after Georgia attacks Ossetia, killing thousands of Russian peace-keepers and their families, Russia retaliates by attacking Georgia, and we are supposed to think Russia is really bad because of this? The BS about this skirmish has been flying so thick it makes me think someone in America or perhaps Israel wants really badly to push Russia into a major war. No wonder Russia is calling for more observers. Impartial ones would be nice.

I wonder how the US would get along if the Russkies were poking around with a puppet regime in Sonora. Didn't some guy called Monroe have an opinion on that one?

Russia, one of the last hold out against the USA Empire.

Russia is nothing like a last hold out against the US or its partners in the west. Russia has been trying frantically to re-establish itself as a world power, but unfortunately has failed in areas of trustworthiness in trading and politics. Fresh in memory are the mafia-like tactics to interrupt the supply of energy to neighboring states. We are left wondering what will happen when Russia gains control of the Georgia/Ossetia region.
