And yet, the overwhelming majority of their bombs fall not on ISIL positions but instead on Syrian rebel positions fighting the Assad regime. Tell us another lie, Lavrov!

How about let's let the Russsians take care of ISIS while we try to reduce our $19 trillion national debt?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@Fadamor

IsiL= moderates, rebels, Al-Cia-Ada, McCain's Army, people from Turkey crossing over.

= The normal Syrians have already left these war torn areas. =How many people will stay around with all the deaths, be-headings, rapes and other harsh realities. Even the higher management of IsiL have most likely left.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Way back when this started, a Russian friend of mine said Russia would destroy ISIS in a matter of days.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

@"the overwhelming mayority of their bombs fall not on ISIL positions"

Usually something like that we can hear from ISIL propagandists. Let the Russians bomb "good"(moderate) and "bad" terrorists and let Allah sort them out.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

The Russian end game is clearly stated. A unified Syria with an elected govt where Assad is allowed to PARTICIPATE in post civil war elections. The defeat of all Islamic groups and rebels who fight along side them. This includes ISIS, Al Nusra,Ahrar al-Sham "Army of Islam", and Ahrar ash-Sham "Islamic Movement of the Free Men of the Levant". Note, the Kurds have never been attacked or bombed by anyone but the Turks but that has stopped because of the presence of Russian S400's.

The people of Syria have NOT rejected Assad, no one elected the western backed rebels and they have never controlled more than 15% of the population. Assad and the Kurds govern 75% of the population and ISIS the rest.

Even the Oracle gets it wrong. From time to time.

The Russians have their very own quagmire in fundie lands. It will bleed the Putin dictatorship dry.

Nice to see those old planes up there though, it's like a rare soviet-era classic car rally.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Madverts, the Russians also have some state of the art fighters and ground attack aircraft in Syria too, not just their old Cold War MiGs and Sukhois.

Fadamor:

" And yet, the overwhelming majority of their bombs fall not on ISIL positions but instead on Syrian rebel positions fighting the Assad regime. Tell us another lie, Lavrov! "

The difference between ISIS and those wonderful, democratic vetted rebels exists only in the imagination of our brilliant leaders and the sycophantic journalists. Have another cool-aid, Fadamor!

True, but it's smart to not have to use your most valuable new equipment if your old equipment can still get the job done. lol.

Really though, is anyone here saying that Russia needs to put boots on the ground? Anyone? Only the US? Really?

"The job" seems to be dropping bombs indiscriminately. I initially thought Putin's dictatorship would fair better in his campaign to prop up his ally the Butcher of Damascus, simply because he would not give two hoots about massive collateral damage on the civilian side.

Plus his paid army of internet trolls in St Petersburg, always on hand for lies and distorted facts and unintentional humour 24/7.

I wonder if our Komikal Komrade can give us a date or at least a proper timeline for the glorious victory of Putin's minions now his early claims of an swift victory failed the laugh test.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Or perhaps your source is the Damascus Blogger, who coincidentally, also turned out to a be fraud

There has been a lot of frauds on this conflict.

OI remember we used to have a poster here that denied the civil war was happening. An absolute crank. He said every Syrian totally like loved Assad more than their own family. Fella blamed it all on the CIA. Said Blackwater had troops causing all the fuss not protesters, mercs slipping hundreds of KM's over the border each night on foot to achieve their feats. Meth can after all make people super-human. But I digress;

Can you give us a timeline for the Russian victory now that your earlier predictions of a swift victory crashed 'n burned like a 1950's MiG?

Thanks mate.

@Madverts

Can you give us a timeline for the Russian victory now that your earlier predictions of a swift victory crashed 'n burned like a 1950's MiG?

Ask Americans, they like giving timelines ("mission accomplished", "Assad is finished"). Russians do not give empty promises. By the way, you several times distorted @BurningBush's earlier predictions about the conflict. Not gentlemanlike, don't you think?

Anyway, since you repeat always the same about the Russian campaign in Syria I'll take the liberty of repeating this link, you'll find answers to all your "rickety planes", "quagmire", "bleeding economy" etc.:

I honestly do not understand where people get the idea that Russian military equipment is garbage etc. This is a military that is openly hitting moving oil trucks trying to get back into Turkey and those videos are openly posted on the internet. You need to have pretty good equipment to do that on a large scale, with multiple simultaneous moving targets.

http://www.wnd.com/2000/12/2254/ (Russian fly over US carriers)

+plus you now have the Iranian drones doing US fly-overs now (this week).

No bush I asked for a date. Come on, man up and commit yourself.

I never submitted to your nonsense.

I didn't have to change my handle to admit I was wrong.

Asakaze,

One of these days my friend you'll realize any commentary directed to my man above there is always a trip to the land of scoff.

But you can always man up for Bush. What date do you put on a decisive Russian victory in Syria? Or are we just singing the Russian national anthem and hoping it isn't really a Quagmire?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@Madverts

War is not a horse racing at Ascot, so I do not put a date, wager or anything else. But if you like dates, man up and commit yourself, give me the date for the final British victory at Iraq and Afghanistan.

And what do you mean by decisive victory? If you mean something like storm of Berlin or Okinawa in 1945 , that will never happen, the enemy is too decentralized. But the operation is running smoothly, the bad guys are in retreat, their forces near Latakia and Aleppo were badly mauled, supply lines to Turkey almost cut. Have a drink and enjoy the show.

Burning Bush OCT. 05, 2015 - 08:16AM JST

It's game over for the jihadist rebellion against Assad.

Wait, were you the one who said Russia would clean house in a matter of days?

Burning Bush AUG. 23, 2015 - 07:29AM JST

America's bombing campaign has been ongoing for over a year now and the ragtag army of ISIS is seemingly unscathed. What a joke of an Air Force the US has. They can't even hamper a defenceless army of poorly trained goons riding around in pickup trucks in a wide open desert.

I also remember lots and lots of posts like the above. Didn't I tell you to come up with a good reason why this ragtag army would still around after months of mighty Russian bombing? Still working on that?

Hillary Clinton July 2012 - Assad's days are numbered.

Exactly BB. & this woman might be my commander-in-chief. Sheesh-

America broke Iraq and Libya but they couldn't crack Syria

Because Putin is a better and tougher leader than obama.

Can you give us a timeline for the Russian victory now

Whatever Russia is doing is wayyy better than what the obama administration had in mind.

Btw, Turkey is lucky the russians didn't "punish" them for shooting down that russian bomber and then using small arms to swiss-cheese those ejected pilots.

badsey3: I honestly do not understand where people get the idea that Russian military equipment is garbage etc. This is a military that is openly hitting moving oil trucks

"Oil trucks"?

Hey there Bush,

My apologies for trying to get you to ink your patriotic chest-beating with a time scale in light of your hallucinogenic reporting of this conflict. Heh, your refusal to submit says it all. I know that you know this is Putin's Iraq moment, only you're just getting paid to say otherwise. With your past bravado it should be simple to tell us when the day of glory will arrive. Is it in 10 days? Months? Or even 10 years? Heh, болото I believe is how it is said no?

AsakazeFEB. 05, 2016 - 12:25AM JST @Madverts War is not a horse racing at Ascot, so I do not put a date, wager or anything else. But if you like dates, man up and commit yourself, give me the date for the final British victory at Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ah, so you're in for the long haul too in your own ME quagmire. At least you're honest. Iraq and Afghanistan? There will be no victory in either, although I think you'll find both countries got out of that mess they made as quick as they could. But nice strawman as usual, I knew I could count on you.

And what do you mean by decisive victory?

Exactly what it means dear boy. The Six Day War sort of scenario that your Komrade in Keyboard above claimed it would be, that week that Putin sent his creaking old air force to stop the imminent collapse of the Assad dictatorship.

Sounds like defeatism to me Asakaze. Hardly the Russian spirit. The enemy is only in retreat on The Putin Channel. Also, the enemy isn't really decentralized if we're talking about the head of the snake.

The bottom line is you're still arguing with me about something we possibly actually agree on. The need for the total annihilation of Daesh. Every last beard. Yet neither the West nor the Russian strongman wish to commit ground troops. So it's Whack-a-mole with jets as if all sides are in denial.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Madverts, my boy, you disapponted me. You just repeat again and again the same propaganda. "Creaking old air force" again?? Even your compatriot @Thunderbird2 tried to correct you (check his post above), but to no avail. Don't be silly, check Su-34 on Internet for starters.

The enemy is only in retreat on The Putin Channel

No problem, enjoy Erdogan TV, fine with me. Your abject denial of Russian success is deplorable, but it is your problem, not mine. Russians are getting the job of destroying Daesh done, and military professionals even from NATO admit that. You demand precise timetable and nice picture on TV. Ask your beloved cousins for that, they are masters on the subject.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Your abject denial of Russian success is deplorable

Hahaha.

I always love it when people claim offence when losing an argument. So I guess since neither you or Bush will commit, it was indeed fair of me to say the Russian mission is an open-ended conflict with no end in sight.

At what cost is the alleged success? How many homes and market places wilfully destroyed? I'm not sure if your air force is any good or not, either their guided munitions work terribly like that Lada I thankfully never owned, or they are simply lobbing as many bombs as possible in the hope of hitting something. I trust it's the latter. It's probably time to fess up to being inferior to the Americans here, even if it's just the propaganda coups that show who's the Big Daddy.

Jihadi John. Vaporized. Mosul Bank. Vaporized. 140 oil trucks Vaporized. In one sortie.

The endgame for Putin is far removed from NATO - for Russia it's about propping up their murderous dictator and keeping their Mediterranean naval base at all costs - with absolutely no care to civilian casualties and a zero willingness to take a single refugee that doesn't have a fat bank account to pay kickbacks to the Russian gangster.

I'm not so naive as to think the West aren't playing their own geopolitical game - especially since Putin went rogue - but to think Russia is some sort of benevolent factor in this conflict or in any other recent act of agression is cloud cuckoo land. Acid trip stuff my friend. You yourself nor our very own Putinbot can even see a decisive victory in Syria so why all the patriotic nonsense? You seem smarter than that.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Madverts

It's probably time to fess up to being inferior to the Americans here

You are a great little kidder!! Americans are in Afganistan since 2001, in Iraq since 2003. If they are so superior as you claim, how come they are still there, with no prospects of decisive victory, Six Day War-style, you demand from Russia?

As I've said, see what you want to see, that's not of my concern. You Cameronbots can say anything you like, but Russians calmly will keep doing their job and get results, to your utmost frustration.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Six Day War-style, you demand from Russia

No, this was Bush's claim to fame. You pounced on the argument and he ran off, although I'm sure he's thankful for the emergency exit.

I remain of the opinion that Russia has it's very own ME quagmire, and that it will bleed you dry. And that your air force is lashing out blindly causing extra human carnage, something I note you have ducked since I mentioned it.

Oh, and you got your butts kicked in Afghanistan. Heh, I was a kid when Russia gave in but it is in all history books not written by Putin, ;)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No, this was Bush's claim to fame.

Old chum, you are cunning with me again. I think these were your words: "What date do you put on a decisive Russian victory in Syria", and comparison to the Six Day War was yours.

your air force is lashing out blindly causing extra human carnage

How touching your concern! I almost shed a tear. But then I recalled a trail of blood your aviation left at Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, and I began to doubt your sensitivness.

Oh, and you got your butts kicked in Afghanistan. Heh, I was a kid when Russia gave in

And now you can tell your kids how the mighty British Lion was kicked out of Afghanistan for fourth time. I thought you learned your lesson at Maiwand, But yes, the Big Master made your jerboa Blair an offer he could not refuse.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Readers, please stop bickering.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How touching your concern! I almost shed a tear.

I doubt that. It's pretty clear Putin and his supporters care not one iota about the Syrians. They just happen to be a minor annoyance habitating an area that Russia is claiming for a naval base.

Good luck with the quagmire anyhoo. Take care mate
