America has been heavily involved in Columbia since the 60s, all because some peasants wanted communism. So the U.S. went into freak out mode on them. The result? FARC. Another violent group that America had a big hand in creating. Anyone that wants to shoot at U.S. military in Columbia most certainly have my blessing.

Thus, this sentence against Bout I find to be totally contrived bullocks and not at all about justice, but rather, vengeance. You could probably pull another arms deal out of a hat and get my blessing to jail Bout. But it should be Americans going to jail over FARC, not those who seek to arm them.

Yet another reason to feel shame being American. If I could just throw my government and military in the dumpster, I could burst with pride!

If you want to see some serious killing, go to Africa. The casualties from the Second Congo War which ended in 2003 were greater than all wars combined since then, and then some. We can talk about Mexico's war on drugs or Iraq or Afghanistan or Syria but Africa makes them look like a paradise. To paraphrase Nicholas Cage, "The West is too busy with their white man's wars to care about Africa."

It's good that people like him are behind bars.

You could probably catch a plane to Columbia if you want and give them your blessing in person. I'm sure they'd appreciate the support. You could even take a few shots yourself. If that's not your thing then maybe you could volunteer to become one of their PR people and help explain to the rest of the world what the real truth is.

If I could just throw my government and military in the dumpster, I could burst with pride!

After you finish straightening things out in Columbia, you could head up to DC and kick some butts there as well. Overthrow the government and throw the bums out. Might be a little tricky at first but I'm sure you'll find a way.

Why do you have to hand me that sort of obnoxious crap? Its not that I love FARC. Its that I hate my government's meddling in other country's affairs, and doubly so when the lines that divide the two sides don't seem to be fairness and justice. I might have been happy to put in with the self-defense communities that pre-dated FARC though. You know, the ones America instigated the shooting on that lead to FARC.

you could head up to DC and kick some butts there as well.

If so, it looks like I will be needing an arms dealer separate from Bout unless my plan is to revolt in 2037.

Of that I have little doubt, but is it so bad to want it for the right reasons, fair, and by the book?

Why do you have to hand me that sort of obnoxious crap?

Obnoxious crap? You obviously have strong feelings on the matter. It just seems you'd be able to do more good in Columbia getting the real truth out then just posting on a site like this. I say you should go for it. I'll even help pitch in for airfare. Just need to know where to send the money.

You should create a website so that others willing to help out can also do so. Maybe even print up some t-shirts saying "Anyone that wants to shoot at U.S. military in Columbia most certainly have my my blessing". Probably could sell enough of 'em to cover your travel costs and then some.

Speaking of t-shirts, I'm sure one saying "If I could just throw my government and military in the dumpster, I could burst with pride!" would be a huge seller not only in the US but worldwide. I think you'd definitely make enough to retire on and probably even enough to even send some to help resolve the situation in Columbia.

    Obnoxious crap?

Yes! You turned "my blessing" into a harangue to pick up a gun and go do it myself. That is obnoxious crap.

Maybe even print up some t-shirts saying "Anyone that wants to shoot at U.S. military in Columbia most certainly have my my blessing".

That much better fits the bill. I hope you can appreciate the difference.

I did also say that "If that's not your thing then maybe you could volunteer to become one of their PR people and help explain to the rest of the world what the real truth is."

So you could go to Columbia and help FARC to get the real truth out. Don't even go near a gun if don't want to. But, you could give your blessing (in person) those that decide to take a shot. You could even sell the t-shirts there.

Your problem is that you want the rules to be hard, fast and absolute. Flexibility is required to deal with real world situations. :b

That only works if I said only "by the book". But I also said "right reasons" and "fair" before that and I tell you, "by the book" came last for a reason other than coincidence.

Sue, suggesting I do something so stupid as to go to a perpetual warzone and confront people who have it in for Americans is also being obnoxious.

Once again, I never said I loved FARC. I said I hate my government and its military. Its not Calculus II, so please figure it out.

Sue, suggesting I do something so stupid as to go to a perpetual warzone and confront people who have it in for Americans is also being obnoxious.

Why worry if you're not military? Besides they just might have a soft spot for Americans who hate their own government and their own military to such a degree that they are willing to give their blessing to anyone who wants to take shots at the US military in Columbia.

How could they not like anyone like that? You don't even need to know Calculus I to figure that one out.

You could get around the war zone issus by taking shots at Americans on US soil when they return from Columbia. Then you could accomplish both goals of staying away from FARC while killing soldiers who have spent time in Columbia.

If you just want to support others who do the killing for you, then that can also be done by hiring someone to do the shooting, then supporting him in his defense in court.

The point is that you have options. At the very least you'd be a symbol of how one American is doing everything he can to keep his country out of the dumpster.

I thought it was OK to work around the rules if you wanted to. Maybe this is just a case of using flexibility to deal with a real world situation. Maybe the prosecution thought the rules as they pertain to this case were just utter crap, so they adjusted the rules to meet the real world situation.

See, SuperLib has given you some options. Plus, none of them sound like you need Calculus II. Just simple addition to count the money you pay to have others take the shots for you.

"Or was their real reason to be involved in Colombia to help finance CIA black ops with cocaine?"

Demand and supply, stu. Millions of American nostrils demand it, as do many elsewhere. If it was legalized and taxed perhaps the illegal weapons dealers would find themselves out of work.

The strange thing is, if a would-be terrorist inside the USA wants to buy weapons to commit an atrocity they can do so freely. Yet the Americans object to "terrorists" living overseas being able to buy guns, unless they are Irish.
