I get the feeling that Perm is trying to get it’s status as a Russian city up graded, last week we had two (or 3) down and outs killing and eating (yes, eating) another down and out, and then selling the left overs to a local kebab shop. Now we have this, 76 dead in a single blast? Moscow really will have to work harder to keep up.

This story gives me the chills. There are some clubs in Tokyo which are fire traps although I haven't heard of any accidents here. Awful for these people...

"Panicked clubgoers crushed each other to death"
It always comes down to everyone for himself, doesn't it?

Is this the same type of scenario, like in Rhode Island a few years back? The nightclub that caught on fire with the pyrotechnics because the building standards were so low? The building materials were an accident waiting to happen.
RIP.

If it means anything, shortly after that nightclub fire in Rhode Island. One of our nightclubs closed down and they completley tore down the building. It would be a good time to review the building standards and codes on a local level, just to be on the safe side. Couldn't hurt.
