My heart goes out to those victims. hat a terrible way to die in such freezing waters. This winter is unusually cold too, we have had temperatures of -18C up here in Hokkaido now almost every day and it is only December. RIP

Some recriminations going on behind the scenes about whether they should even have been out there in such appalling weather.

14 picked up by the ship that 'had been towing the platform'.... Hmmm... Difficult to work out exactly what happened, but presumably as it capsized they cut the hawsers? Capsized. Is it still floating then, but upside down? Or did it sink, I wonder?

Either way a truly horrible story. Hope we learn something psotive from this for the future.

Geez... That's awful. And unless the missing found their way onto something dry and floating their chances of being alive are virtually nil. I hope we hear of some miracles. RIP to those who died, and my thoughts go out to those who survive them.

Ah, thanks JT for the updates. I wonder how many more lifeboats they will find. Let's hope for a miracle. Even one life is precious.
