Have the people work for the money. A garden, fix a few things, get rid of the burnt cars from the past riots...I do not know but the effects of not working or contributing to society on a persons self-worth can be very detrimental. Everyone can and wants to help out in one way or another. It is our nature. Or don't eat...Free money does noone any good.

"Free money does noone any good."
Exactly.
Or more succinctly, 3 generations of free money means they just simply expect it.
Sarko is a fool for the way he has handled his presidency - he promised change and to make it easier for us capitalist pigs that genuinely do want to work - but instead he gave the change only to his buddies in BIG business and us little people continue to work so the RMI'sts can sit at home and smoke dope playing on the PS3, and of course, so that all the lazy swines that "work" for the government can have the fun of strike action, whilst creaming to the max the almost defunct socialist system here.
What a mess. Can't we send 'em all to fight in Afghanistan or something?

Is he kidding? Rioting is France's national pastime. The native French do it, the immigrants do it. Students, farmers, public transit workers, the unemployed, the intellectuals, rioting seems to be how they celebrate life.
The only way Sarkozy can prevent the inevitable unrest that is coming due to the world economic crisis is to dress every citizen in his country with one of those shock collars people use to control their dogs. Although drafting some of the worst cases and banishing them to Afghanistan would be a nice half-effort.

The last time I laughed this much at the expense of the French government was when I read the report than nearly 90% of the bikes in their 'communal bike' program had been stolen or destroyed and the company that produced them was close to bankruptcy.
It does my synical little heart good to see that socialistic programs are failing, not just in the U.S but everywhere.
