Particularly disturbing were the accusations lodged against Shaniya’s mother, 25-year-old Antoinette Davis. Police charged Davis with human trafficking and felony child abuse, saying Shaniya was offered for prostitution.

Particularly disturbing? Particularly disturbing is that the little girl is dead. The accusations, which are still just accusations at this point (although you would not know that by the headline) are simply also disturbing. Or does a 5 year old girl's death really pale in comparison?

We don't even know if there is a relation between the poor girl's death and the accusation at this point. So what it is up with the headline jumping the gun on not one, but two counts? Oh! Sensationalism sells, that's what! Bad enough seeking to profit off a toddler's death, I would think!

same here, kirakira...my heart just hurts to read this sh!t..

I have 3 children (girl-10 y.o., boy-5 y.o. and girl-1 y.o.) and I tell you that what happened to this girl will not go unpunished. This monster-woman will scream and rot in hell. R.I.P. little angel.

It is interesting that when we read about a similar crime committed in Japan the comments are "What is wrong with (Japan, Japanese, etc...)?!?" So this story is an example that the problem is with people, regardless of location, horrible people. A mother.

I was going to say the people who did this are not human beings, but animals. But that would be an insult to animals.

I am looking the above picture, and its almost a spitting image of my younger sister, my brother's daughter too... what's my point? That there is far too much of this going on in the US and it feels almost as if there is a roulette going on and its getting close. What is it with people in the US doing things like this? I almost don't even want to read, listen or watch the news anymore.

That is because Japan bills itself as a peaceful haven and does things like hand stuffed animals to pro baseball players as they cross home pate; puts cartoon characters on its traffic signs to warn drivers of various dangers; and gives miniature toy race-cars away along with its canned coffee. Even the adult population are bombarded with the innocent trinkets of childhood. Apparently it has successfully brainwashed a few of them into thinking crime is anomaly here...

I cant believe this, as with any news about children's lives coming to an end. I always have this nightmare, and Im seeing threw the eyes of the children their last look at life. They trust in ALL of us, so innocent, it just tears me apart knowing the last person they see is the ones they loved the most, or someone they trusted.

We tell them not to be afraid of monsters, and then the monsters get them.

There has to be something wrong with this news. I can't imagine mother can do that to her own doughter. Unthinkable.

The legal system is the least of their worries...

"But whoso shall offend one of these little ones...it were better for him (the offender) that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea."

"...Vengence is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord".

Even if they get the death penalty, it won't be over for them...ever.

R.I.P. little girl. You deserved better. May God have mercy on the perps of this heinous crime.

She is the same age an my granddaughters. I can't imagine the sorrow the father is dealing with.

RIP sweet angel. < :-)

The sort of black heart it would take to harm a child, the pure evil intent, is beyond comprehension. There is no justice that will bring that innocent girl back, and there is no punishment exacting enough to mete out the justice needed. Utterly sickening.

Grrrrr...

After reading this I honestly feel sick to my stomach.

I don't, still haven't seen the falling bodies from 9/11. Haven't read about the details of the student down south in japan. That sad crap is just depressing and me reading about it won't change anything. Don't have a TV here either. Sick people are everywhere and places like JT make their money off seemingly "normal" people getting pleasure from reading about them.

If those accusations are true, I hope they roast the mother and the person who committed this terrible crime! What is happening to our world ? Child molesters always serving petty sentences and being released from prison only to move into our neighbourhoods and place fear in our souls for our children and loved ones! I say if someone molests a child, they should hang! We need to protect our children more than anything in this world!

The suggestion that she offered her 5 year old daughter for sex, is extremely disturbing. That they haven't yet come out and stated why they think this is the case. I'm not defending the woman. Lots of people do horrific things, and what the neighbors and family almost always say, is that they were the nicest people, that you never would have thought... Still, with these kind of allegations, I'd really prefer to hear something more substantial as to why they think she was prostituting her daughter.

There are times when I question my stance against the death penalty. This is one of them.

"There are times when I question my stance against the death penalty. This is one of them"! Welcome to my side my liberal friend! Could not agree with you more!
