Lieberman will never go for it. He just voted to allow debate, but he'll never vote for it. < :-)

"everyone sort of shut up and sit down, get out of the way, we know what's best for you"
But the American people elected these people to do what's best for them.

sarge,
thats right. why arent the republicans supporting this bill as well? Because they are in the pockets of the insurance companies that rip off people all the time.
It was said before, the republican plan is do not get sick and if you do die quickly. That way the insurance companies make more money.

A quick visit to http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus.php?ind=F09 will show that the insurance companies, like just about any industry, use the lobbying system to gain the maximum influence possible. They contribute to both Republicans and Democrats, with the ratio these last twenty years showing 67 percent of donations to Republicans, 32 percent to Democrats, but with the 08 average 55 Rep, 45 Dem. The amount donated to individual parties ranges from 6 million in the 90's to over 20 million in the last election cycle.
But for the entire story you need to look figures for law firms/lawyers - where election year donations approach almost 200 million, and largely to the Democrat Party, by a ratio of 73-26 these last twenty years and topping at 80 in the last election. http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus.php?ind=K01
Law firms have donated more money to Democrats these last two years than the insurance industry has given Republicans in the last twenty years

Because they are in the pockets of the insurance companies that rip off people all the time." Nobody rips anyone of more than the US federal government. They sure get people excited for something that won't start serving until when? But you will start seeing it in your health costs quite quickly.
If you feel the insurance companies are such thieves, why is the US gov actually helping them get more business? Or did you not think about that? I hope they pass this bill, so many of us will make so much money thanks to you and the fed. I also hope they start pass other bills that will FORCE people to purchase things..... I think everyone will need insurance for the ipods!

You mean I fell for the iPod/iPhone Ponzi scheme? -Better mark that Ponzi off the list. Maybe I will do better with this new ObamaCare Ponzi scheme. Wish me luck.

Here is the latest from Rasmussen
"Just 38% of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s the lowest level of support measured for the plan in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted since June.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% now oppose the plan."

Rasmussen polls are filled with the same amount right wing bias, as CNN a poll has left wing bias.

Like I mentioned in an earlier article, folks this is just to allow discussion. It wasn't a vote to approve the health care bill, it's just to allow discussion.
The republican party would have stopped discussion or filibuster discussion if they could have. < :-)

zurcronium: "because they are in the pockets of insurance companies that rip people off all the time" Guess what the democrats are in their pockets too. The insurance companies were at the table and support this because by mandating coverage they will have more customers. This will not do one thing to contain cost it's money down a hole.

The country cannot count on the so-called "moderate" Democrats to save us from socialism and ever greater deficits and loss of individual freedom. I am convince that President Obama will try to force ObamaCare through the Senate using the reconciliation process requiring only a 51 vote majority. This would be a tremendously partisan and divisive tactic given that major social programs have always required at least some level of bi-partisan support, has never been used for huge spending programs, and is against public opinion.
