Obama isn't going to nominate a judge, he is nominating a legistlator; because that's what Liberals do (ie. legislate) when they are put on courts. And that is just they way Obama likes it - no pesky legislator's to slow down his agenda.

sounds like you are describing the pappy bush packed supreme court decision to give the election to junior in 2000. Pure politics. That is what conservatives do when they have the chance. Rule of law has no meaning.

Funny how the far right holds so dear our country but cares not for what the Founding Fathers wrote in the Constitution....
Article III
Section 2. The judicial power shall extend to all cases, in law and equity, arising under this Constitution
If you read the rest you will see that their responsibility is to oversee and correct laws that go against the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
The Court trumps all, not even the President can overturn their decisions. I understand that most Republicans have a problem with that but there is nothing you can do. Well short of a coup attempt by the far right. I do not think they are that nutz......But I have been wrong about them in the past.
The Courts protect We the People from insane laws, far right or far left!
I for one am glad that the Judges can do this......

JoeBigs - Now that you've had a day to think about it, you still think ol' Jimmy Carter would be a great choice here?

I want to see a justice who is living in today's world. Not when the constitution was written. Times change, the world turns and people are living in the 21st century, not the 18th century. < :-)
