Tragedy; let's hope the perpetrators are caught and the wounded recover (including the dog).

Still, the references to 420 culture made me laugh. Dancing with hula hoops, skateboarding, "going through an anxiety thing" - brings back fine memories.

I'm surprised no one was hurt by the stampede.

The good news is nobody died. The pharmacists and my other co-workers I'm with every day are cracking up about the legalization of pot here (I'm in Denver) because every single one of them know exactly what is going to happen to those that want to get high for fun. We're all looking forward to your physical and mental condition as you age. :) As you reap so shall you sow.

Also for any happy stoners out there, make sure you don't waste any money trying to get an education for a career in pharmaceuticals/pharmacy and who knows how many other careers. Anyone who abuses drugs will not be able to get a job... something about personal ethics and federal law that an extremely high amount of employers and corporations tend to look at very closely.

I was shocked that 70% of the people that apply for certain positions fail "personality" tests that businesses are using nowadays. Guess that's more job security for me then thank you very much :D

I know that around Civic center park there are a LOT of "hoodlums" that like to hang out in groups there. I wouldn't be surprised if the shooter was a gangbanger or wannabe thug.

Drugs and violence go hand in hand... even the legal ones.

My bet was the shooter was a person opposed to legalized marijuana.

Marijuana is its' own industry and is profitable. These people coming to Colorado are highly funded and make their own products. Hydroponics/aquaponics is a spin-off. =These people have no interest in pharmaceuticals (drugs) and typically go all natural. More of a Chinese medicine (food) model compared to the Western (Drug) model.

What is going to happen to them?

@badsey3, and our state government is still hammering out laws to better control this "legalization" which have yet to take affect. Everything is not completely set in stone just yet. And wait until the tobacco companies decide to jump in on this bandwagon...

By the way, there are many drugs on the shelf that are natural and derived from plants, animals (including humans) and minerals. Aspirin for example was originally derived from aspen tree bark. MJ isn't special in that case and its not a miracle drug.

@Noliving, as much as pro-smokers love to tout the "benefits" they completely ignore the negatives to push their agenda. Any carbonized particles that come from unfiltered (and even filtered) burning objects being inhaled directly into the body is going to affect the lungs, esophagus, nostrils and everything in between. Plus because of the narcotic affects of this drug has very bad long term affects on the brain (people really do lose permanently lose intelligence and motor skills also suffer as a result of consistent use) as well also the body will eventually become tolerant and MJ just won't make the smokers high any more unless they intake a stronger or more concentrated version. This is based on REAL drug research and scientific fact and not some biased pro-pot backed "studies". Its also the reason that federal law is still against this drug being used for "recreation", because there are many other drugs that do a much better job at sedation and pain relief than MJ. Its just that because some (but not all) are possibly addictive people are required to get a prescription for them. Look up the DEA drug schedules for a better understanding.

Seriously, ignoring those of us that study and handle drugs and medications (which requires an extremely high amount of detail and accuracy to make sure we don't kill or harm someone who actually needs drug treatment by overdosing, poisoning, allergic reactions, or a combination of incompatible medications/chemicals/food) for a living have many smirking sarcastically at the complete stupidity of this whole situation. Whether you believe me or not, when you see the pharmacists discussing about the serious affects of MJ on the job and what is going to happen to these people you wouldn't be so flippant about the whole situation. I don't trust anyone to believe me until either they're too "drain bamaged" to notice anyways, or the toll finally becomes so apparent to them that they can't ignore it. My motto now is that "fools don't listen until after its too late and they're suffering the results of their choices."

I remember this one man from the 60s (can't remember his name) who although he was a "hippy" said he understood where people thought they could see the "benefits" of using drugs to "expand" their minds, but he also said that if they really were expanding their minds they'd see there was no need to use drugs. He's now a very wealthy business man from starting his own record labels, and giving spots to some popular bands back in the day.

" What is going to happen to them?"

Oh, let's see...some will go on to invent many great products and businesses that the global population uses such as home PCs, portable music players, and smartphones; some will go on to become political leaders; some will go on to contribute to the entertainment industries of music and cinema; and some will just do little or nothing at all.

Heeeey man, Marijuana never hurt anyone.

and many will just do little or nothing at all.

Sorry, I had to correct that.

Acetylsalicylic acid (synthetic aspirin) is toxic to some extent (kidneys/liver/bleeding). White willow (salicylic acid/salicin) is much better and non-toxic. Marijuana is also non-toxic and maybe the most anti-cancer compound there is. The problem with marijuana is that it is not a drug much like salicylic acid.

The problem I have with marijuana is that smoking it is almost a total waste. People should be juicing marijuana for the full effects. --> I understand that is pushing health way beyond most people's concepts of food and nutrition. I am a big hemp grass powder (from Canada) person mostly for the low lysine and if I was able to grow wheatgrass I would seriously consider juicing it (raw).

<https://www.youtube.com/feed/UCUnFheTbVpASikm0YPb8pSw > (this is the new direction of farming and the spin-off from the hydroponics/marijuana grower tech) ==> people are growing their own drugs now and getting away from the pharmaceuticals (which are mostly toxic read the labels and inserts).

The reason I brought up aspirin was because I was drawing comparisons that MJ isn't the only drug that comes from a plant and therefore makes it special as an "all natural" benefit. All drugs can be toxic which is the reason why we have pharmaceuticals and laws to control the strength given for effective beneficial and legaldrug treatment with the least amount of negative impact.

If you take more than the recommended amount of ASA then of course its going to be toxic! Your kidneys can't eliminate the amount of drug residue in your bloodstream and your liver will wear out trying to metabolise it as well as the excessive bleeding from the anti-clotting effects of ASA. Whenever you take an aspirin you're warned that it will cause any external wounds you get to take much longer to stop bleeding and you're advised to go to a doctor if you find blood in your urine or stool. This also is beneficial for people that have suffered strokes before because it can help prevent the creation of an embolus (internal blood clot) that are one of the causes of further strokes. Because some people are allergic to ASA and they are recommended to use acetaminophen instead for headaches and pain relief although it won't have any effect on stroke patients and the anti-clotting factor won't be there. Don't spread misinformation that you lack proper facts about.

Marijuana is also non-toxic and maybe the most anti-cancer compound there is. The problem with marijuana is that it is not a drug much like salicylic acid.

Pro-pot propaganda again? As I said before too much of anything will be toxic or detrimental to ones health. A person can die from drinking too much water. A person dying from drinking too much Cola or coffee has already been in the news. Also people that don't smoke tobacco but still chew it can easily get mouth cancer. Just saying there are many causes that people try that can easily result in some cell tissue to go rogue and create a nice little tumor. If you're lucky your body will identify and eliminate the threat on its own, and you really don't want to interfere with that by taking something that would prevent it from doing that process naturally.

I do agree with you on the point that if people must have their MJ, at least they should stop smoking the stuff, that has always been one of my biggest sticking points about how it affects those around them. If the usage can be contained to only affect the person using the drug then everything is just fine and they can OD themselves if they want to.

Your "aspirin" acetylsalicylic acid (a synthetic) is toxic at any amount. Many people every year are admitted into emergency rooms for this type of bleeding and it is a very serious and common issue. You can get generic aspirin at a dollar store and $ for $ is incredibly cheap for a quick fix (headache etc). People make the assumption "generally considered safe" => but the reality doesn't support these claims. People on acetylsalicylic do not get better, but only worse. At best aspirin is a cheap fix.

A much better solution to aspirin is white willow (extract) which has the natural buffers. Still acts similar to aspirin but is way easier on human biology (bleeding). http://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/herb/willow-bark

Constituents (White Willow bark) Glycosides: Salicin, salicortin, picein, fragilin, tremulacin and triandrin Esters of salicylic acid Tannins Catechins Flavonoids (6)

Marijuana is generally regarded as non-toxic and if fact no one has ever died from marijuana overdose.

Aspirin: Acute overdose has a mortality rate of 2%. Chronic overdose is more commonly lethal with a mortality rate of 25%.

Yearly deaths from aspirin prior to the suggestion that it was a good idea to take one a day were 6,000. Then many in the population began taking aspirin daily to prevent heart attack and the numbers jumped to about 56,000 deaths a year from gastric bleeding. Since then the numbers have stabilized to about 17,000 deaths a year.
