Good... but where and will they find them? What's more, does anyone think there's going to be anything incredibly revealing on them? My guess is no, though better to find them and be sure. And of course, there COULD be concrete evidence as to what went wrong, or just better indication, on the recordings.

Very weak signals, from black boxes.

Time for aircrafts to come with black boxes which emit stronger signals. This crash has helped to nose dive air travel.

Time for air france to solve this crash puzzle, for the public's information.

It's time for aircraft to do away with the black boxes altogether and use satellite communications from the cockpit. I read a fascinating article on this in a newspaper last week. Flight information is sent real-time via satellite to ground stations. It's probably still technically not practical but definitely something needed. Satellite communications would do away with the need for expensive, time-consuming and often futile searches for black boxes in deep seas, jungles, mountainous terrain or wherever.

if they have detected the signals and the fact that the signals can be heard underwater for a distance of 2km, is accurate, then if they do not locate these boxes i will be more suprised than you would be if they do.

Well, the news changed rather fast, so don't take my 'good' at the beginning to mean I'm glad they haven't found them (before it said they DID find them). Anyway, no big surprise, though I'm curious what the sounds actually were, then.

maybe they don't want to cause optimism and release too much info to the public until they verify for themselves that it is from the black box.
