If this is the same guy who walked off the base without his firearms, bulletproof vest, telling anyone and permission then he got what he deserves.

nimbus I guess if you read the story you might find that your assumptions are in vain. It gives the information about how he really was captured. Just read.

Actually I did read the entire article, more than once.
I seriously doubt if this is the same guy who walked off base unarmed with three Afghans, he would admit to that in a propaganda video.
"He said in the video he was lagging behind a patrol when he was captured, which conflicts earlier military accounts that indicated he left the base with three Afghans."
"The circumstances of Bergdahl’s capture weren’t clear.
On July 2, two U.S. officials told the AP the soldier had “just walked off” his base with three Afghans after his shift. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the record."
Do you really think he will admit that he was an idiot and walked off base

Well if he had been dumb enough to do it I guess he'd be dumb enough to admit it too.

Lagging behind sounds like he was on a foot patrol. But the guy is athletic, not the type that lags. No reason to lie on this as the Taliban know how they captured him. Was he chatting with some 'friendly' locals?

Hopefully he'll be rescued soon.

nimbus/bushlover-I haven't heard of any other soldiers going missing, etc. If you have, please let me know. Wasn't the story of the soldier who walked away from base (stupid thing to do in a war zone) run just a short time before this one? It makes it seem like the same guy. I think he may have thought about becoming Muslim, and then changed his mind once he was captured. Robes, shaved head, growing a beard - looks like a religious conversion to me.

Who knows. If he wants to convert let him. Maybe they won't cut off his head. But as soon as he gets rescued I hope he sees the light and converts back to normalcy.
