South Africa took ten years to get back to this position - now that it feels Mugabe will not be able to rescue Kabila again (Junior this time around). Strangely the know-it-all press corps never saw it coming. Just like '97 the UN takes a swift retreat. If someone could check arms shipments one will find that certain tanks repeatedly claimed by Kenya (and sworn to be Sudanese by the BBC) were most likely on their way to Rwanda... Genocide is only Africa's way of paying back tribes that allow themselves to be used as askari by Europe and other non-Africans.

The UN is always on the retreat. I keep waiting for a story about UN troops on the advance, or UN peacekeepers successfully keeping the peace...
Aside - adaydream, is the smiley part of your signature, so it comes up automatically or something, because in this case it seems massively unappropriate. Just saying.
